The Lion in Winter is a play set during Christmas 1183, focusing on the power struggles within the Plantagenet royal family. King Henry II, his estranged wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, and their three sons – Richard, Geoffrey, and John – are all plotting to secure power for themselves. The play explores themes of family, ambition, betrayal, the cost of power, and love. All within the context of a family feud of imperial proportions. Additional info: Performance Dates: September 19-21, 26-28 Auditions will consist of prepared pieces (not required, but encouraged) and cold readings from the script. Dialect will be a consideration, but not a requirement.

She schemes against Henry and manipulates her children. But does she also love them deeply?
He is a son of Henry and Eleanor, and a man of energy and action. Attractive, charming, and intelligent; he is also a cold, amoral schemer.
The eldest surviving son of Henry and Eleanor, Richard is handsome, graceful, and impressive. He has been a famous soldier since his middle teens. War is his profession, and he is good at it. He is easily the strongest and toughest of the three princes.
She is the sister of the French King (Philip.) While deeply in love with Henry, she is treated as a pawn by all. Have they underestimated her influence and intellect?
