“Enter Laughing” Comedy Play Needs Cast
Casting call for fall production “Enter Laughing”. Seeking actors. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: THE PLOT: The play is a comedy based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Carl Reiner and centers on the journey of young aspiring actor David Kolowitz as he tries to extricate himself from his overly protective parents (who want him to be a married pharmacist) and two too many girlfriends, while struggling to meet the challenge of a dearth of talent in 1930s New York City. Additional info: Sides will be provided. Auditioners should bring a resume and (if you have one) a headshot. Rehearsals will be Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. starting Sept. 8 and Tuesday, Nov. 11. Attendance is mandatory during all tech week rehearsals (Nov. 10-12). Performances are Nov. 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. If you are interested, please apply.

Sweet and charismatic, he is an aspiring actor who is a bit naïve at times.
A diva in a community theatre. She is no stranger to attention, especially that of her younger male leads and takes a liking to David. Very confident with her body and sexuality.
Kind, but no nonsense, owner of the small machine shop where David works. A traditionalist, he is protective of David and disapproves of his dreams of stardom.
She is David’s solid, sensible girlfriend, who is actually a spitfire underneath the surface. She is devoted to David and the idea of marrying and settling down.
Domineering, overblown theatrical director/actor who has his own down-on-its-heels theatre company. He impatiently tries to teach David how to act or, in most cases, how to overact.
David’s quirky, excitable best friend. Good natured and supportive, he will do anything to help David achieve his dreams.
She’s strong and overbearing but loveable. Although Jewish she belies the stereotype. Warm, caring, protective and funny, she is determined to make sure David becomes a druggist.
David’s caring, and accepting father. He may seem to be a bit of a push over but actually he is just tolerant and patient.
David’s dream woman and first big crush. She is beautiful and glamorous. The receptionist at the Hat Company where David makes his deliveries.
The direct, no-nonsense stage manager for Marlowe’s theatre company.
Strong and willful, in love with Miss B.
