Auditions for Musical "The Rocky Horror Show"

Herndon, VA, United States
ID: 288485Exp: 7/12/2025
Description:

Looking to cast male and female talent for "The Rocky Horror Show". Find other details below. ONLY LOCLA TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.” That “Sweet Transvestite” and his motley crew did the “Time Warp” on Broadway in a 25th anniversary revival. Complete with sass from the audience, cascading toilet paper, and an array of other audience participation props, this deliberately kitschy rock ’n’ roll sci-fi gothic musical is more fun than ever! History The original London production of The Rocky Horrow Show, directed by Jim Sharman, premiered at the Royal Court Theatre on June 19, 1973 and won the 1973 Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Musical. Later transferring to several other locations in London, the show ran for a total of 2,960 performances. On March 10, 1975, The Rocky Horrow Show opened on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre, starring Tim Curry and featuring Meatloaf and “Ritz” O’Brien. In 2001, the show returned to Broadway at Circle in the Square Theatre, starring Raúl Esparza, Tom Hewitt, Alice Ripley and Jarrod Emick. Directed by Christopher Ashley, the revival ran for 437 performances. Additional info: Music Auditions Prepare 1 minute or 32 bar cut from music in the same style as the show. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the correct key, prepared on card stock or placed in a binder. The Music Director prefers no a cappella auditions, and please do not sing a song from the show (save that for Callbacks). Callbacks Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, July 15 starting at 7:30 p.m. Actors invited to callbacks will learn a dance combination (please wear appropriate clothing and footwear) and may be asked to sing and/or read a side provided that evening. If you are not invited to callbacks, it doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be cast. It just means directors needed a second look at certain actors, in order to make final casting decisions. SHOW DATES ARE OCTOBER 10 - NOVEMBER 1 CALLBACKS are TUESDAY, JULY 15, @7:30pm (by invitation only). The First Rehearsal will be Thursday, July 17 from 7:30 - 10:30PM. If you are interested, please apply.
