About the project: Empty Promises is a psychological horror short film written by yours truly. It follows Nancy, a trauma survivor who finds herself in a dangerous relationship with Shan, a charming but deeply violent and manipulative man. What begins as a seemingly tender love story gradually unravels into a harrowing descent into emotional abuse, gaslighting, and physical captivity. Beneath the love story is something darker: a city haunted by the disappearances of Black girls no one seems to be looking for… and a silence that echoes far beyond Nancy’s own voice. From community centers to street corners, from therapy rooms to basements, this is a story of survival, secrecy, and the violence hidden in plain sight. Being a part of Empty Promises means more than working on a film — it means contributing to a movement, message, and mirror for stories often ignored. Rate: Non paid. Credit, meals & reel provided.
