Protagonist. (28, Female-Identifying) An only child with an unusually close bond with her parents. Bold and impulsive, she is often quick to make rash decisions. She wields a sharp, sarcastic sense of dark humor when the situation calls for it. Since the tragic loss of both her parents, Addison has taken to speaking to them when she's alone—a coping mechanism rooted in grief, love, and habit. She is desperately trying to move on with her life but struggles with this baggage.
Supporting Role. (Addison’s Dead Mother, Female-Identifying) Petite with short, grey hair, Bess is the quintessential run of the mill helicopter mom —especially where Addison is concerned. Though deceased, her maternal instincts persist in Addison’s mind - she is always ready with cautious advice and emotional backup, particularly when a new love interest enters the picture. Her protective nature stems from a deep fear that Addison may get hurt again.
Supporting Role. (Addison’s Dead Father, Male-Identifying) Armed with wire-rimmed glasses perched high on his nose and not a strand of grey in sight, Chris doesn’t look a day over 50. Warm, supportive, and endlessly encouraging, he’s the gentler counterbalance to Bess’s vigilance. In life—and now in Addison’s memory—he was happily led by Bess’s strong will and overprotective nature, especially when it came to their daughter.
Supporting Role. (Addison’s Date, Male-Identifying) A self-proclaimed film bro who practically worships at the altar of Quentin Tarantino, but he’s got a really great smile and sometimes that’s enough. Though rough around the edges, he does his best to remain respectful, particularly when navigating awkward situations with Addison. Duke simply had plans to go on a nice date and hopefully a hook up after….he didn’t expect to deal with her dead parents…..he didn’t sign up for this.
