"The Wizard of Oz" Musical Needs Cast
Theatre is proud to announce the upcoming auditions for "The Wizard of Oz". Looking for actors. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See more info below. Rate: This is a non-paid performing opportunity. Additional info: No experience is necessary. PREPARATION - PERFORMERS: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and a 16 bar (or 1 minute) selection from a song in a similar style from another show. You may sing either a cappella or with a backing track on your device. Monologues are not required but are welcome. Rehearsals: There will be up to 25 rehearsals for this production, plus tech week and performances. The exact rehearsal schedule is to be determined (based on cast availability). Tech Week: Sunday, August 31 - Thursday, September 4, Call Time 3 PM Sunday and 5:30 pm every other day of tech **Tech week rehearsals are 100% mandatory and can run later into the evening. Be aware that directors must run the entire show each night and sometimes that will mean rehearsals can last longer. Anyone with an active role during performances, including actors, crew, and production team must be available and present for all tech week rehearsals. PLEASE LIST ANY POTENTIAL SCHEDULE CONFLICTS. Casting and staffing decisions and rehearsal schedules are based in part on this information. Directors understand that sometimes things change, but this is an abbreviated rehearsal schedule and they need to be sure that everyone is available for all rehearsals when they are called. (Mezzo/Mix) Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and strong willed, in search of something more. Very strong singer who moves well.
(Baritone) Plucky and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a brain. Strong actor with an honest quality. Excellent dancer – acrobatic skills a bonus. Strong baritone to F.
(Baritone/Tenor) Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic. Singing and dance required. Strong baritone/tenor to G.
(Baritone) A mix of bravado and cowardice. Should move well. Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing. Vocal range: Strong baritone to F.
Character villain with an over the-top stage presence. Excellent comic actress, has a killer cackle. Sings comically but doesn’t have to sound good.
Older father figure with an eccentric flair. Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus. Non-Singing.
(Soprano) Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved. Strong singer.
Aunt Em is demanding, but loves her niece. Non-singing.
Dorothy’s pleasant uncle. Non-singing.
(Baritone) Strong comic actor, big presence.
