Theatre Casting Call for "The Picture of Dorian Gray"
Auditions for production of "The Picture of Dorian Gray". Seeking cast. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: Originally a novel by Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray is a story of vanity, unrequited love, and the corruptive influence of hedonism. This adaptation by Robert Kauzlaric views Dorian’s story through the eyes of those most profoundly affected by him. After Basil Hallward immortalizes Dorian’s beauty on canvas, Dorian wishes to remain eternally youthful while the portrait ages instead - the result of a Faustian bargain. Through the manipulative guidance of Lord Henry Wotton, Dorian destroys everyone he touches with his ruthless pursuit of pleasure, while Basil’s portrait of Dorian reflects the consequences of his vices. Note: This show contains graphic depictions of suicide and murder, along with a brief mention of sexual assault. Themes of prostitution and drug use are explored. Queer themes are present throughout. Anyone uncomfortable depicting gay relationships is encouraged not to audition for Dorian Gray, Basil Hallward, or Alan Campbell. Additional info: 9 to 16 actors needed. Auditions will consist of reads from the script; sides are attached. British accents are encouraged for cold reads. Please come to auditions prepared to list any conflicts between late July and late October. Tech week (October 12 - 16) is mandatory. Performance dates: October 17 - 19, 24 - 26. If you are interested, please apply.
