About the project: "It's 1934, and the clever and combustible Lucille Wiley, Manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, is ready to welcome world-class soprano Elena Firenzi for her one-night-only starring role in "Carmen." Alas, Elena arrives late, her impassioned husband Pasquale has a fit of jealousy, and it remains to be seen whether Mrs. Wiley's mousy but determined assistant Jo can save the day." Based on Ken Ludwig's Tony Award-winning "Lend Me A Tenor, this madcap screwball comedy features ladies in the leading roles. Additional info: A short monologue is required. Call Back: June 05, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Rehearsal dates: September 2, 4 starting week. Ater that every Monday and Thursday. Then tech week: Suday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Followed by Thursdays between production weekends. Expect attendance at all rehearsals appearance of character. Exceptions: Work, illness and religious Holy days. She is a force of nature. She is in her mid-fifties, well-dressed, with great hair. She's a businesswoman in the 1930s, which in those days took the confidence of a Mack truck. She's extravagant, outspoken, crazy as a loon, and she doesn't like taking no for an answer.
Lates twenties. She's the assistant to the General Manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company. She makes an effort, but as always, she's a bit scruffy, hair askew, without much makeup, and she wears glasses.
Early thirties. He is a good-looking fellow and adores opera.
She is a force of nature. Gorgeous, nay, magnificent, and dressed to the nines. Probably in her late forties/early fifties. Of course, has an Italian accent.
Elena's worthy consort, handsome and impressive, speaks with an Italian accent.
A young man or woman.
He is the Company's principal tenor. He's Dutch, from Amsterdam, and has a heavy Dutch accent. He's late twenties/early thirties, extremely handsome, sexy, and self-confident with a beautiful smile and warmth.
She's about sixty and wears a silver dress covered in sequins.
