"The Most Important Job in the World" Play Needs Talent
ONLY LOCALL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking actors for upcoming play "The Most Important Job in the World". More details are below. Rate: Volunteer position with possibility of stipend pending final gate proceeds. Craft services provided. Additional information: To be performed August 7th-17th at the Nanaimo Fringe Festival. Rehearsals to take place on evenings and weekends throughout June, July, and early August. Commitment required through August 17th. To play high school student. A hard-working, intelligent student who is already the primary caretaker for her family. She struggles to balance holding together her home with excelling in her schoolwork. She puts everything into not letting those around her see how much she's struggling. PRIORITY FOR THIS ROLE WILL BE GIVEN TO ACTRESSES OF COLOUR.
To play high school student. Chill. Smart. Into sports. Mack possesses a strange sort of charisma- she gets away with saying and doing things others wouldn't because of her wit, humour, and ambition. Mack is outspoken, opinionated, and quietly thinks herself the smartest person in every room.
To play high school student. Rich, snarky, and materialistic, Iris is the school's wannabe Regina George. Her tenacity will take her very far in life, and she makes sure everyone around her knows it. However, under the fabulous outfits, carefully-crafted demeanour, and sparkly jewellery is a young girl who will do anything for the approval of those around her.
To play high school student. Above all, Andie is a girl of the people. She tries her best to get involved with as many activities and people as possible, and is on the executive committee of eight school clubs in addition to serving as Student Council President. Andie's kindness, patience, and passion leads her to be beloved by all.
To play high school student. A little dark, a little funky, and extremely liberal, Rueben serves as the grounding prescence within the group. Though they are passionate about their own strongly-held beliefs, Rueben will always prioritize doing the right thing, and acts as a surprising ally to many characters in the play.
A stay-at-home mom to three sons. Feminine, soft, perfectly demure; a vessel of unrealized and underutilized ambition. She has wisdom for those who know where to look for it, but learns as much from interacting with the girls as they do from her.
Your average, not particularly problematic high school English teacher. Big sports guy. Just trying to get through the day with his classroom of relentlessly opinionated teenage girls.
To play high school student. Iris' right-hand. Piper can come across as ditzy, but she's much more insightful than she seems. Steeped in privilege, wealth, and social status, Piper can often be oblivious to the circumstances of those around her.
To play high school student) The daughter of a family of hard-working immigrants, Christine puts everything into guaranteeing herself and her family a bright future. Though she starts off seeming very cold and calculated, Christine learns that even the strongest and most successful people need a community to fall back on.
To play high school student. Naive to the harsh ways of the world, Fleur is the ultimate teacher's pet. Shy around girls her own age, she gravitates towards her teachers to gain approval and validation. Fleur wants to be friends with the other girls very badly, and will do just about anything to get them to notice her.
