Though she finds a glimmer of hope while connecting with Stanley's gentlemanly friend, Mitch, Blanche cannot face the truth of her own troubled past and ultimately descends into madness. "Making God Laugh": Making God Laugh follows one typical American family over the course of thirty years’ worth of holidays. Starting in 1980, Ruthie and Bill’s grown children – a priest, an aspiring actress, and a former football star all return home, where we learn of their plans and dreams as they embark on their adult lives. The empty-nester parents contend with their own changes, as old family rituals are trotted out, and ancient tensions flare up. As time passes, the family discovers that despite what we may have in mind, we often arrive at unexpected destinations. "Tuesdays with Morrie": Tuesdays with Morrie is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie’s appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life. Additional info: You may audition for one or all of the shows. Ruthie wants what’s best for her family but has more traditional and conservative values that sometimes clash with her more progressive children. "Making God Laugh"

BillMale50-54 y.o.All ethnicities

Standard American accent. Bill is the patriarch of the play’s family. He is married to Ruthie and counters her uptight nature with an easy-going attitude about everything. Standard American accent. Thomas, or Tom, is the youngest son of Ruthie and Bill. At the beginning of the play, he is in the process of becoming a priest, which is a source of enormous pride for the devout Ruthie. It’s obvious that Tom is the “golden child”, and he is the most level-headed of the three children. He is much like his father in that he is easy-going, diplomatic, and has a sense of humor about himself and his occupation. "Making God Laugh"
