Performers Needed for Production of "Cast"
The company is holding auditions for production of "Cast" and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Additional info: Performances will be on Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12 at 7:00pm (CST) and Sunday, July 13 at 2:00pm. Auditionees should prepare a vocal excerpt in the style of the show. If not singing a selection from the show, prepare something similar in style and range to the role/roles you are interested in. Please bring a backing accompaniment track, preferably in digital format. A way to play the track will be provided. *No live accompanist will be present at auditions.* Please ensure there are no lead vocals in your accompaniment track (karaoke tracks are ok, singalong tracks are not). (GUS: THE THEATER CAT) - An elderly cat whose paws tremble from old age; he spends his time reminiscing about his past exploits when he used to be a famous theatre actor. Operatic tenor.
A flirty and confindent red queen; best friends with Demeter with an intense hatred for Macavity. Strong high belt.
A large upper-class cat who is respected by all. Operatic tenor.
A troubled and skittish queen; best friends with Bombalurina with an intense hatred for Macavity. Strong high belt.
A former “glamour cat,” ostracized by the Jellicles. She has lost her sparkle and wants only to be accepted. Traditionally a soprano with a belt to E-flat.
A queen who watches out for the kittens and takes care of Gus. Soprano.
The youngest kitten. Sweet and compassionate, she is the first cat to accept Grizabella when she sings alongside her in Memory (reprise).
a.k.a the Old Gumbie Cat. She sits around all day and seems lazy, but is very active at night. Soprano. Possible tap.
A mischievous troublemaker, he is one-half of a notorious duo of cat- burglars along with Rumpleteazer. Strong high baritone.
A grey tabby tomcat who is the storyteller and protector of the Jellicle tribe. He is Old Deuteronomy’s second-in-command and the show’s main narrator. Baritone.
The wise and benevolent elderly Jellicle leader who is beloved by his tribe. High baritone/tenor.
A flashy and unappeasable cat who loves to be the center of attention. A bit of a diva and show-off. His temperament ranges from clownish to serious. Tenor.
