Performers Needed for "Twelfth Night" Show
The company is holding auditions for Shakespeare’s "Twelfth Night" and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: In this slightly altered, “extra-queer” production of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," a young and not-yet-out trans man formerly known as Viola shipwrecks on the island of Illyria. He takes the opportunity of finding himself in a new place and immediately starts living his life as his true self, Cesario. Cesario quickly enters the service of Duke Orsino, who is infatuated with the Countess Olivia. Olivia, however, falls in love with Cesario. Meanwhile, Cesario’s twin brother, Sebastian, also survives the shipwreck and arrives in Illyria, where he is mistaken for Cesario. Complicated by a series of escalating pranks, mistaken identities, and a series of romantic pursuits, the play culminates in a series of marriages, resolving the initial confusion and restoring order to Illyria. Rate: All actors are volunteers and will be given a $75 stipend after closing for their time and talent. Additional info: Please prepare a 1-2 minute comedic monologue from Shakespeare (but not Twelfth Night!) or one of his contemporaries (e.g. Marlowe, Kyd, Jonson, Dekker, etc. - think 1500s and 1600s). Memorization is appreciated, but not strictly required. Directors may or may not ask you to cold-read from the script as well - whether they do or don’t has no bearing on your consideration. Callbacks will take place during the afternoon of Saturday, June 7th. Performance Dates: August 15-17 and 22-24 Fridays and Saturdays @7pm Sundays @2pm Please apply if interested.
