Theater Auditions in "Televangelists" Play

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. The theater company is hosting auditions for the premier new play "TELEVANGELISTS" as a mainstage show at Nextfest 2025. Looking for male and female performers. Please, see the details below. About the show: The play follows Seven, a naive, self-centred girl immersed in the punk rock scene of 1997 Canada. She begins to understand the newness that surrounds her, and the past that haunts her. She and her childhood friends come face to face with their religious trauma, the cruelty of man, the ways their dreams possess their lives, the effects of revenge porn, and how drugs influence them. Seven finds solace and identity within the punk community, but she is also abruptly introduced to the not-so-sweet sides of it. A story told through moments of poetry, media projection, nostalgia, and naturalistic dialogue, TELEVANGELISTS explores the complexities of youth culture. Ultimately, the play highlights the strength of collective feminine fury, freedom, and ferocity in the face of friction. Rate: All cast members will receive an honorarium. Additional information: There will be 6-7 showings between June 1-15. Rehearsals will take place between March and June and will take place in central Edmonton. The show contains drug use, alcohol use, violence, description of child sexual assault, cannibalism, exploitation, and both consensual and non-consensual sexual acts. There will be an intimacy/fight coordinator to aid in making these scenes safe and informed for all involved. Due to the content of this show, only actors 18 and above will be considered. When applying, please submit a head shot (if you do not have one, any photo of your face will do!) and an acting resume with the email heading “TELEVANGELISTS Audition – Your Name”, along if you have any accessibility needs. Auditions will take place in a building that is wheelchair accessible with an elevator. Please include if you have experience with movement (dance, sports, etc), instruments, and singing. Those selected for an audition will be contacted late February for an audition slot that will take place on either March 14, 15, or 16. Auditions will consist of a cold read, and sides will be sent out if you are selected for an audition.
