Dancers Needed For New Show "Cats"
Auditions for "Cats" show. Directors are looking for dancers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Rehearsals begin on or about May 17, 2025. Performances are May 31, 2025-June 8, 2025, at Casa Mañana Theatre. Please note that Casa Mañana holds rehearsals and performances during daytime hours. Please arrive early and sign in with your headshot and resume (stapled back-to-back). Callbacks, if warranted, will be on the same day. For Callbacks, please prepare a short song (16-32 Bars) in the style of the show. Bring sheet music in key, an accompanist will be provided but will not transpose. Callbacks will include cold readings (songs). To be considered, please apply.

The ‘glamour cat.’ A very accomplished singer with a wide dramatic range of vocal timbre, Mezzo with strong belt to E flat.
The ‘rock-star’ cat, with wild comedic sexuality. Must be a charismatic performer with a fantastic pop/rock voice and strong falsetto. An outstanding presence with good dance skills.
The ‘Gumbie Cat’. Motherly, an Edwardian ‘do-gooder’. A comedic character actress with excellent movement and tap-dancing skills. Strong singer with high Db.
Is the magician – impish, with an expansive personality. Must be a phenomenal principal dancer. Gymnastic skills and tricks a plus. Good high baritone vocals.
Operatic Tenor. A fat upper-class cat who is respected by all. He is described as “the Brummell of cats” due to his immaculate pelt, which resembles a tuxedo and spats.
Asparagus a.k.a. Gus: The Theatre Cat. He spends his time reminiscing about his past exploits when he used to be a famous theatre actor.
High Baritone / Tenor. Is the Jellicle Cats’ wise and respected older leader. Sees the value of each and every cat within the Jellicle Tribe.
Mezzo-Soprano. High belt. Flirts with many male cats, is a dance-heavy role. A saucy red female. A principal vocalist and dancer.
A troubled and skittish queen; she is best friends with Bombalurina and the two share an intense hatred for Macavity. A principal vocalist.
a.k.a. the White Cat. A naive and shy white kitten who is known for her beauty and poise. She is a featured dancer and is the first character to touch Grizabella.
A grey tabby tomcat who is the storyteller and protector of the Jellicle tribe. He is Old Deuteronomy’s second-in-command and the show’s main narrator.
A mischievous troublemaker, he is one-half of a notorious duo of catburglars along with Rumpleteaser.

An upbeat and active orange tabby cat, who lives on the mail trains and acts as an unofficial chaperone. Quirky. Requires a good character actor.
The show’s only real villain and a literary allusion to the Sherlock Holmes character Professor Moriarty. He goes out of his way to terrorize the Jellicles.
Identity of the actor who also plays Macavity.
A brown pointed Queen. Glamorous and snooty with a stand-offish air.
Sillabub is a sweet, affectionate, innocent kitten, typically the youngest of the tribe. She gets along with the entire tribe thanks to her friendly and welcoming disposition; the older cats are protective of her while the younger cats enjoy playing with her.
He is a playful young kitten, often performing acrobatics as well as being a strong dancer.
