"First Strike" Audition for the Theater
Casting performers for "First Strike" play. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the details below. About the project: Every year The Fleetwood Project brings an original play written by a local playwright to the Farr Best stage. This season we bring you, First Strike, written by Jo Carey. First Strike is a science fiction comedy that tells the story of a wild weekend in Splittsville– home of the Far Northern Midwest Regional Bowling Association Championships. It’s been a year in the planning, but the bowlers, their families, and fans aren’t the only ones visiting Splittsville this weekend. The townspeople and bowlers face off on opposite sides of the debate over canceling the tournament when people are attacked and missing person reports roll in. First Strike features an intrepid reporter with undue concerns about the inflatable tube beings that welcome people into town for the tournament with a friendly wave, a business owner who will fight any enemy to keep her family business alive, and a sheriff who is trying his best to make sense of this quirky, non-sensical town. In Splittsville, when the going gets tough – the tough go bowling. Additional info: Auditions will consist of monologues (prepare ONE from the audition packet) and cold readings from the script. Mayor of Splittsville. Whenever he/she uses the Sheriff’s first name it’s pronounced with an exaggerated hard “T”. Self-important, but cares about the town. Enjoys the perceived power of her position a little too much.
Owner, Manager of The Spare Me Bowling Center, hard worker, trying to grow the family business. Down-to-Earth.
Community college astronomy professor, wants more as long as he/she doesn’t have to work too hard to get it. Socially awkward. Absent-minded professor. Feels underappreciated.
Pin Machine Tech at The Spare Me, boyfriend of Susie Kaminski, always looking for an angle to improve his situation. The town bad boy who’s not all that bad.
Smart, ambitious, but wants to test the limits feels stuck in Splittsville. Youngest character but often has to step up and be the voice of reason.
Works for the Splittsville Visitor’s center, enjoys small town life. Still hoping to find her one great romance like those she reads voraciously.
Sarcastic. Acerbic wit. Splittsville blogger, enjoys annoying the sheriff, pushes the boundaries of crazy to make her smalltown existence more interesting than it really is. A basically good person frustrated with the direction her life has taken.
Sheriff of Splittsville, not sure he’s cut out for small town life. Sometimes the quirky is more than he can handle.
