10 roles

JENNAFemale20-35 y.o.All ethnicities

Character is in her 20's-30’s. A strong and spirited young woman who feels stuck in her unhappy marriage. She works as a waitress in a small town where, whether she realizes it or not, the Diner has become her family. Jenna finds joy and escape by following in her mother’s footsteps with her creative and expressive pie recipes. She wants nothing more than to get away and start fresh, unbeknownst to her destructive husband, Earl. Must have a fantastic pop/rock voice with great range.

BECKYFemale45-55 y.o.All ethnicities

Character is in her late 40's-50's. As the oldest (wisest?) of the waitresses, Becky has been there, done that, and lived to tell the tale. She is irreverent, bitingly honest, and has a wicked sense of humor (with a side of truth bombs). Despite her occasionally prickly exterior, she is fiercely loyal to the people she loves. Must have a soulful pop voice with an excellent pop belt.

DAWNFemale20-29 y.o.All ethnicities

Although not much younger than Jenna, she has a naivety about her that makes her the clear “baby” of the Diner family. Her eccentricities are what make her endearing: her off-center ponytail juxtaposed against her painstakingly perfect table settings; her reluctance to meet new people and be the center of attention contrasted with her passion for live historical re-enactment. Dawn is an enigma with a heart of gold. Should have excellent comedic timing. Must have a strong pop/rock/folk voice.

DR. POMATTERMale30-45 y.o.All ethnicities

Character is in his 30's-40's. Handsome, sincere, and more than a little neurotic (self-proclaimed!). His warm but quirky bedside manner charms Jenna when she becomes his patient, and the two engage in an extramarital affair that is emotionally complicated for both of them. Must have excellent comedic timing and a strong pop/rock tenor.

EARLMale20-39 y.o.All ethnicities

Jenna's husband whose unfortunate ideas about love and marriage are intertwined with an explosive mixture of narcissism and broken dreams - while also dangerously fueled by cheap beer and an unpredictable temper. Although still handsome, the boyish charm from his High School glory days has evolved into a level of manipulation that strangers may not see and Jenna cannot escape. A pop/rock baritenor. Guitar playing a plus, but not required.

OGIEMale25-39 y.o.All ethnicities

Character is in his 20’s-30's. A lovable “odd duck” who can go toe-to-toe with Dawn when it comes to endearing quirkiness. A huge heart whose passion for spontaneous poetry, white food on Wednesdays, and historical re-enactment is matched only by his belief that once you find “the one”, you stand by their side through thick and thin. Should have excellent comedic timing. Must have a strong pop/rock tenor/baritenor sound.

JOEMale60-70 y.o.All ethnicities

Character is in his 60's-early 70's. A daily visitor (and owner) of the diner where Jenna, Dawn, and Becky work. A borderline curmudgeon on the outside whose soft spot for Jenna (and her pies) occasionally peeks out from behind his sarcastic demeanor. An uncanny ability to read people, a biting sense of humor, and a lack of filter makes Joe a truth teller whether people are prepared to receive that truth…or not. Must have a strong baritone pop/rock.

CALMale40-49 y.o.All ethnicities

Head chef at the diner. A "Salt of the Earth" guy's guy uncomfortably surrounded by women who just barely acknowledge him as their boss. Somehow manages to still be charming, even when he is yelling at you to get back to work. Should have a strong pop/rock voice with great comedic timing.

ENSEMBLEBoth genders18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Looking for an ensemble of 8-10 singers/movers to play a variety of roles. Solid pop/rock vocals a must, dance experience a plus.

UNDERSTUDIESBoth genders18-56 y.o.All ethnicities

Casting 4-6 understudies to cover all roles and ensemble tracks. More information on understudy plans will be available at auditions.
