About the project: "EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT (workshop)" Dates: July 7th - 12th, 2025 Callbacks will be held on March 10th in person and those called will need to prepare to sing. SYNOPSIS: Every Saturday Night takes audiences on a trip back to San Francisco’s Fillmore District in the 1950s, where Ardella runs the neighborhood’s hottest after-hours club out of her basement. Inspired by true events, acclaimed Bay Area Composer and Director Danny Duncan’s new musical offers a boisterous and heartfelt glimpse into the “Harlem of the West” that once was. THE DAY THE SKY TURNED ORANGE Rehearsals begin July 28th Performances: Fall 2025 Final show: Oct 12th Callbacks will be held on March 3rd and 4th in-person and those called will need to prepare to sing and dance. SYNOPSIS: September 2020. San Francisco. An ominous sky. High school science teacher Amari must let go of her grief while starting a new relationship; her brother, QC, grapples with the realities of long-COVID and his future as an artist; and her student, Alé, is just trying to pay for remote therapy. Painted with the background of the ongoing pandemic, Black Lives Matter uprisings, and an upcoming election, these interconnected San Franciscans face yet another sobering moment: the day the sky turned orange. This R&B and pop musical from Julius Rea, Olivia Kuper Harris, and David Michael Ott is a testament to living through the trials of 2020 and a compassionate reminder of the importance of caring for our planet, our communities, and ourselves. Rate: CONTRACT Bay Area Theatre $500 weekly minimum (Tier 2) Additional info: Please prepare 2 contrasting monologues that you feel represent you as an artist. Directors want to get to know you. This can come in any form you choose whether they are contemporary or comedic monologues. Please note that a classical monologue is not required. Audition slots will be 4 minutes each.
