Neon Moon Lead Actor Casting Call - Student Film
Looking for a Latino or mixed Latino queer male actor for a Western film that will be filming in Santa Cruz and Watsonville. I already have an entire cast and crew ready to work with; I just need an actor willing to show up for 4 days of filming on January 18-19 AND January 25-26. Synopsis After struggling to start a new life in the city, Kinan returns home to find his father has passed away. Seeking an escape, he reminisces about his old cowboy partner, Gabriel, and begins a search for him with the help of his drag queen friend, Luis. Luis directs Kinan to Sarah, Gabriel’s past lover, who leads him to Gabriel’s home, where he confronts Gabriel and his father, Ernesto. When Gabriel arrives, his cold demeanor reveals his closeted nature. A heated argument ensues, with Kinan insulting Gabriel’s character. Hurt by the insult, Gabriel gives Kinan an ultimatum: stay and return with him or leave alone.

Kinan is a drifter and a failed son; he returns home after failing to make it to San Francisco. Proud and open about his queerness, Kinan is also closed-minded about other queer expressions. The film follows his path to redemption as he reconnects with Gabriel to understand what went wrong in their relationship. The actor must be comfortable portraying a queer character or be queer themselves.
