Singing Opportunities in "The Sound of Music" Production
Auditions for "The Sound of Music" show. In need of cast. Please see the breakdown below. Additional info: - Please prepare a short vocal selection (Vocal selections from the musical are encouraged!) Vocal selections must be performed acapella or with a recorded accompaniment-they will provide a Bluetooth speaker should you need one. -There will also be cold readings from the play. -Please bring your calendar to the audition. A rehearsal schedule will be provided. You will be asked to fill out an audition form and it is very important that you include all conflicts on your form. The amount of conflicts will influence casting decisions. Call backs will be January 20 from 6:00-7:00. They typically rehearse weeknights at first, then add in some weekends when they get closer to opening. The director will usually pass out a tentative rehearsal schedule at the auditions that you can look at. If you are interested, please apply.

(Musical theatre mix/soprano, dance). A postulant at Nonnberg Abbey – young, free spirited, warm, gentle and kind with much determination.
(Baritone, moves well) A retired Austrian naval captain. Polished, yet very military in the way he runs his life to repress his sadness over the death of his wife; underneath, he is warm, understanding, and determined.
(Tenor/baritone, moves well) Charming and vital; a man of sophistication who enjoys the good life; true and loyal friend to the von Trapp family.
(Mezzo soprano, moves well). A baroness of taste and elegance, sophisticated, dignified and mature.
(Legit soprano, wide vocal range, very strong actress). Motherly, understanding, strong and authoritative, but kind.
(Alto, moves well). Mistress of Novices, prudish, straight laced with a quick tongue, she is less tolerant than other nuns.
(Mezzo, moves well). Mistress of Postulants, very kind, understanding and concerned.
(Soprano, moves well). Neither demanding nor critical, sticks with the rules.
(Non-singing). The von Trapp butler, rather formal but not without spirit, he is very German and loyal to the Fascist cause.
(Non-singing). The housekeeper, stoic, very little personality; she does her job efficiently but without affection. Strong and somewhat dominating.
(Non-singing). Stern and unsmiling, a typical Nazi official whose primary concern is to see that everyone toes the line.
(Low tenor, dance, 17). Suitor to Liesl, telegram delivery boy, later Nazi soldier. A very pleasant young man, somewhat aggressive but in a gentle way.
