(Range: Tenor, E4–F5) Frenchy's suave and slick guardian angel, who encourages her to stay in school. "GREASE"
A woman stuck in her life as an unhappily married waitress in a small town. Finds some happiness and expression through her meticulous baking of pies and her friendships with her coworkers, Dawn and Becky. Lives her live paycheck-to-paycheck, day by day, and wants nothing more than to get away and start fresh, unbeknownst to her destructive husband, Earl. Has a fantastic pop/rock voice with great range. "WAITRESS"
Youngest of the waitresses. Thick glasses, hair parted 14 centimeters to the left — eccentric is the nice way to say she’s slightly unusual, and not so slightly OCD. She sets the tables, painstakingly ensuring each salt and pepper shaker is equidistant from the napkin holder. Has an excellent pop/rock/folk voice. "WAITRESS"
The oldest of the three waitresses. Irreverent, irascible, been there, made it back, and somehow kept her forward and sometimes wicked sense of humor with excellent comedic timing. Has a soulful pop voice with an excellent pop belt. "WAITRESS"
Handsome, endearing, and neurotic. Has a warm, if clumsy, matter. Jenna’s gynecologist with whom an unexpected extramarital affair is born. Has a quirky sense of humor and a big heart, despite the fact that he’s contributing to the affair. Has impeccable comedic timing and moves well. Has a very strong pop/rock tenor that can navigate the musical style of Sara Bareilles with ease. "WAITRESS"
Jenna’s husband. Peaked in high school, handsome in a gruff way, but that face is clouded with broken dreams, drowned with cheap beer. Just enough narcissism mixed with stupidity, to be a potent Molotov cocktail that can explode into unexpected anger one second and then turn into a sobbing mess the next. Actors auditioning for EARL would need to come prepared with a song in the vein of Elton John or a similar contemporary singer/songwriter. Guitar playing a plus. "WAITRESS"
Strange, yet oddly lovable. Becomes slightly obsessed with Dawn (in a hilarious yet endearing way) after she goes on a 5-minute date with him. Quirky, incredibly persistent, and odd, yet kind. Has excellent comedic timing. Has an excellent pop/rock tenor/baritenor sound. "WAITRESS"
The owner of the diner where Jenna, Dawn, Becky, and Cal work. A seemingly old, curmudgeonly man who has a soft spot for Jenna (and her pie), warm at heart. A sarcastically funny and no-nonsense guy with a keen ability to read people. Very funny. "WAITRESS"
A chef at the diner. A “Salt of the Earth” guy’s guy surrounded by gals. Brash, impatient, unsentimental, but somehow charming. Has a strong pop/rock voice with great comedic chops. Has a strong contemporary baritone singing voice in the style of Sara Bareilles and has excellent comedic timing. "WAITRESS"
Has excellent pop/rock voices in the style of Sara Bareilles. Has excellent comedic timing and be able to play a range of characters comprising the community in which the story takes place. Strong movers/dancers. 3 MALE ENSEMBLE "WAITRESS"
Has excellent pop/rock voices in the style of Sara Bareilles. Has excellent comedic timing and be able to play a range of characters comprising the community in which the story takes place. Strong movers/dancers. 4 FEMALE ENSEMBLE "WAITRESS"
Range: G3-F5, Belt to D5. Disneyesque Soprano or Mezzo. Some movement Anya is brave, fiery, witty, and above all determined. With no memory of her life before age 17 and having lived through the horrors of the Russian Revolution, Anya jumps at the sound of gunshots and is distrustful of strangers, but there is steel hiding just beneath the surface. Anya is strong-willed and compassionate. "ANASTASIA"
Range: A2-G4. “Baritenor”. Some Movement. Dmitry is a scoundrel with a heart of gold. A street rat who grew into a conman, Dima does all he does to get out of poverty and is not above lying, cheating, and stealing to do so – that is until he meets Anya. "ANASTASIA"
(No age really specified). Range: A2-F4. Comic Baritone. Strong mover. Vlad is Dmitry’s partner in crime (literally) and surrogate father. Before the revolution he scammed his way through society pretending to be a count. Vlad is dramatic, crafty, and a big softie at heart. While he, like Dmitry, is not above lying, cheating, and stealing, he cares greatly for his loved ones and is generally affable, though he can be calculating when he needs to be. "ANASTASIA"
Range: A2-Gb4. Baritone with a strong upper extension. Gleb is the villain of the show, though not a bad person. He fully believes in the Communist ideals he follows. Loyal, honest, and hardworking, Gleb almost has the potential to be a hero (he’s very much the hero of his own story). A deeply conflicted person, Gleb’s infatuation (and borderline obsession) with Anya leads to his battle with the idea of doing one’s duty vs. doing what is right. "ANASTASIA"
Range: F3-Bb4. A regal Mezzo. The Dowager Empress has lost everything she once held dear and must now put up with imposter upon imposter never allowing her to grieve in peace. She is icy, proud, and regal (not to mention intimidating) to all but her family. Though, she does have a very shrap wit. She is especially warm with Anastasia both when a child and after it’s revealed that Anya really is the princess. She commands authority and attention the minute she enters a room. "ANASTASIA"

Moses’s Hebrew brother. Intellectual, sardonic, skeptical, funny. Aaron has reached an accommodation with his life as a slave; he makes a joke of everything to diminish the pain.
