"Alice by Heart" Musical Needs Young Performers
Auditions for the musical "Alice by Heart". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: Set during the London Blitz in World War II, Alice by Heart follows young Alice Spencer as she navigates chaos and finds solace in her imagination. When her friend Alfred falls ill, Alice inspires him to escape into their beloved book, embarking on a whimsical journey through Wonderland. This poignant tale explores themes of first love, loss, and resilience, making it a must-see for all ages. Additional info: Please prepare 32 measures/approximately 1 minute of a musical theater or pop/rock song in the style of the show. Callbacks December 19. Rehearsals will begin January 6, 2024. Performance Dates are February 14 & 15 at 7pm, Feb 16 at 2pm, Feb 20 & 21 at 7pm, and Feb 22 at 2pm & 7pm. *You must be available for all performance dates/times. Please see the document attached. Full of questions, wonder, and a tenacious stubbornness when it comes to achieving her goals. Entering a confusing time of transition in her body while trying to survive a distressed situation — living in a tube station, displaced from her family. Possesses a wonderful imagination that allows her to escape her present situation. Must believably play age 15.
Alice’s ailing childhood friend. Alfred contracted tuberculosis while living on the streets and is now being cared for by a small medical staff in the Underground station. Doubles as White Rabbit: Attractive, obsessive-compulsive, and a little manic - running from something he doesn’t understand. Strong contemporary pop/rock singing voice. Must believably play age 18.
Tough, funny, take-charge. Dominates her husband and gets what she wants. Big singing voice with belt. Must believably play age 30-50.
To play late teens to early 20s; preening; demanding; full of riddles; also plays Harold Pudding, a soldier who has lost his wits in the war who is manic, funny, charming and nuts.
Smart; streetwise; has gravity.
A somewhat flamboyant street urchin with sticky fingers. Comedic.
An upper-class young girl who finds herself in the Underground with the rest of the survivors.
A young boy who has been traumatized by the bombs and the loss of his family.
A working class youth with a penchant for escapism.
Falling apart and anxious to a comic extent, a la Larry David. A nervous yet somehow still threatening doctor tasked with managing the Underground station. Character singing voice. Should be able to believably play ages 35-45.
