About the project: Follow the yellow brick road in this delightful stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale, featuring the iconic musical score from the MGM film. The timeless tale, in which young Dorothy Gale travels from Kansas over the rainbow to the magical Land of Oz, continues to thrill audiences worldwide. Additional info: This Theatre version is a more faithful adaptation of the film. A more technically complex production, it recreates the dialogue and structure of the MGM classic nearly scene for scene, though it is adapted for live stage performance. The Theatre version’s musical material also provides more work for the SATB chorus and small vocal ensembles. Please bring an actor resume and headshot to be submitted to the production crew. All those auditioning should prepare a cut of 16-32 measures from a song of your choosing. There will be a dance call at the initial auditions. Callbacks will be on Thursday, December 19th if needed. Rehearsals begin on Monday, December 30, 2024, and will be every Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, as well as, Sunday from 2:00pm – 5:00pm. Tech week will run Saturday, March 22, 2025 – Thursday, March 27, 2025. Performance dates include: Friday, March 28, 2025 @ 10:00 AM & 7:30 PM Saturday, March 29, 2025 @ 7:30 PM Sunday, March 30, 2025 @ 2:00 PM Attendance is required for all tech week dates and performance dates set forth. A sweet, innocent young lady with a streak of boldness, outspoken and headstrong, who dearly loves her family, friends and dog, Toto; Lives on a farm in Kansas with her Aunt Em & Uncle Henry, but dreams of escaping to a far-off place where she will not get into trouble. (Strong vocalist and dancer required.) Range: Bb3-F5
The Good Witch of the North, who is the mother figure for Munchkins and Dorothy whom she guides through Oz; delicate and graceful. Lovely singing voice required. Range: C4-F5
Character villain with an over-the-top stage presence. Excellent comic actress, has a killer cackle. Sings comically but doesn’t have to sound good. Range: Bb3-Eb5
Plucky and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a brain. Strong actor with an honest quality. Excellent dancer – acrobatic skills a bonus. Range: C3-E4
Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic. Singing and dance required. Range: C3-E4
A mix of bravado and cowardice. Should move well. Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing. Range: C3-E4
