Auditions for “West Side Story” musical. Seeking cast. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: "West Side Story" is a modern musical adaptation of the classic tale "Romeo and Juliet." The Sharks and the Jets are rival gangs competing for the same territory. Tensions escalate when a Shark girl named Maria falls in love with a Jet named Tony. However, their relationship faces significant challenges, as they are never allowed to be together. Rate: $350.00 – $600.00 per week. The Theatre provides professional compensation, round-trip transportation, and excellent accommodations for up to eight visiting artists per production. Additional info: The Theatre currently operates as a nonunion theater. Open audition: A sign-up sheet will be available starting at 10:00 AM. Auditions will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Vocal auditions from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Dance auditions will follow from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (ALL Dancers must attend vocal auditions and will not be permitted to sing after 3:00 pm). Prepare two contrasting vocal selections in the style of the show, each no longer than 32 bars. Bring sheet music in your key for the provided accompanist. Also, include a one-minute dramatic monologue that fits the show's style. Men: please wear sneakers or charter shoes if asked to stay for the dance call.
