Seeking Actors for New Musical "Anastasia"
Auditions for the new musical "Anastasia". Looking for cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. Additional info: All those auditioning will learn a dance as part of a group with the choreographer. Then each auditioner will read with the director and sing with the music director, and should prepare a song of about 60 seconds in length, sung either with a karaoke-style track (no lead vocals) or with piano sheet music – no unaccompanied singing, please. If using sheet music, directors will need a copy at least one week before auditions for the accompanist to prepare. Bluetooth speakers will be provided for you to play your track. No memorization is required at auditions. Two ballet dancers are needed for one scene with no singing or speaking. If you would like to be considered for one of these roles, previous ballet training is required. Please indicate your experience when contacting for an appointment. If you are only auditioning for this role, you will not need to sing or read. Callbacks for roles noted with a * below may be scheduled during the week of November 11. All other roles below will be doubled in the ensemble. Show dates are March 14-23, 2025, with up to two shows for area schools during the week of March 17. In addition to the performance dates, performers must be available from March 8-13 for mandatory rehearsals. When applying, please include the auditionee's name, let know if you have a preferred date and/or time (Saturday, November 9 from 10 am to 5 pm or Sunday, November 10 from 1 pm to 6 pm), and if so directors will do their best to accommodate you. (speaking, singing, and dancing role, mezzo-soprano): A street-sweeper in post-revolutionary Russia, she doesn’t remember much about her youth, but she agrees to Dmitry and Vlad’s plan to pass her off as Anastasia. During her “training,” she begins to remember things that a common person shouldn’t know about the Romanovs.
(speaking, singing, and dancing role, tenor): A lovable “prince among thieves” who concocts a plot to pass off a random girl as the long-lost Anastasia and collect the Dowager Empress’ reward, but he finds himself wondering about Anya’s past, as well as his feelings for her.
(speaking, singing, and dancing role, baritone): A down-to-earth, good-natured semi-scoundrel and partner in Dmitry’s scheme. He once had a fling with Countess Lily and still has feelings for her, even though he is well beneath her status.
(speaking and singing role, baritone/tenor): A young Soviet official whose father was one of those responsible for eliminating the Romanovs, he becomes consumed with the need to find Anastasia, if she lives, and finish what his father started.
(speaking, singing, and dancing role, alto/mezzo-soprano): Lady-in-waiting to the Dowager Empress in Paris, she once had a fling with Vlad and still carries a torch for him although he stole her jewelry. When reunited, the two rekindle their passion in bold and humorous ways.
(speaking and singing role, alto/mezzo-soprano): The matriarch of the Romanovs who escaped to Paris, she believes her entire family dead, but holds out hope that Anastasia lives. However, she has become disillusioned by the many impostors who try to convince her, until Anya arrives.
(speaking and singing role): A noble who is attempting to leave Paris on the same train as Anya, Dmitry, and Vlad, he seems to recognize her for who she might be.
