However, when he misses their celebration, her anxiety intensifies. Joined by her supportive friend Joselyn, Marie grapples with the worry of unfulfilled dreams. As Mark faces a condescending interview with his boss, Arthur, he begins to see the emotional cost of his ambition on his relationship with Marie. Balancing both a family and work life becomes a struggle.
Supporting: MARIE. A warm yet frail woman living in the Carmello Assisted Living Facility. MARIE embodies a style that reflects her past—a love for antiques and floral prints that are now faded. She is amiable and nurturing but carries the weight of loneliness, longing for more connection with her son who always seems to be caught up in his job.
Supporting: Outgoing, supportive, wistful, and humorous, JOSELYN (67, Black/White) is Marie’s best friend. She is full of life and has a hint of nostalgia for her own lost youth. She’s a window into Marie’s life outside of her relationship with Mark. Her character serves as a gentle reminder of the family ties that can fade over time.
Supporting: As Mark’s boss, ARTHUR is a figure of authority who is sympathetic yet firm. He is professional, supportive, slightly aloof, and pragmatic, and while he recognizes Mark’s potential and genuinely wants to help him advance, Mark is also bound by company rules.
