On Christmas Eve, spirits appear and take Scrooge to see poignant scenes from his past, joyful holiday celebrations in the present, and horrifying future events. In response, Scrooge changes his life to embody the holiday spirit all year round Additional info: Rehearsals will take place at The Governor’s School for the Arts, beginning Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Public performances at the Sandler Center will take place on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at 8 PM, Saturday, Dec. 7 5, 2024 at 2 PM and 7:30 PM, and Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at 2:30 PM. Please note that Thanksgiving day will be a dark day, but we will be rehearsing the other days of Thanksgiving week. See the attachment for the sides. The miserly owner of a London counting-house, a nineteenth century term for an accountant’s office. The three spirits of Christmas visit the stodgy bean-counter in hopes of reversing Scrooge’s greedy, cold-hearted approach to life. Vocal Range: Tenor (A2 – F#4)
Scrooge’s clerk, a kind, mild, and very poor man with a large family. Though treated harshly by his boss, Cratchit remains a humble and dedicated employee. Vocal Range: Baritenor (Bb2 – Eb4)
Wife of Bob Cratchit. Caring but stern mother of several children. Strong actor and singer. Vocal Range: Sop(G3-C5)
In the living world, Ebenezer Scrooge’s equally greedy partner. Marley died seven years before the narrative opens. He appears to Scrooge as a ghost condemned to wander the world bound in heavy chains. Marley hopes to save his old partner from suffering a similar fate. Strong singer and actor. Vocal Range: BASS (G2 – Db4)
Scrooge’s nephew, a genial man who loves Christmas. He invites Scrooge to his Christmas party each and every year, only to be refused by his grumpy uncle. Strong actor singer. Vocal Range: Tenor (Bb2-Eb4) Must be able to move well.
(Fred’s Wife) A likable, jovial person that always sees the good and everyone. Vocal Range: Soprano (Bb3-C5) Must be a good mover & Singer
The first spirit to visit Scrooge, a curiously childlike apparition with a glowing head. He takes Scrooge on a tour of Christmases in his past. The spirit uses a cap to dampen the light emanating from his head. Vocal Range: Tenor (D3-D4) Must be a good mover & Singer
The second spirit to visit Scrooge, a joy filled bigger-than-life personality. Her lifespan is restricted to Christmas Day. She escorts Scrooge on a tour of his contemporaries’ past holiday celebrations. Vocal Range: Alto/Sop (Bb3 – C5) Must be a good mover
The jovial merchant with whom the young Scrooge apprenticed. Fezziwig was renowned for his wonderful Christmas parties. Also plays the Charity Man 1. Vocal Range: Tenor (C3 – F4)
Fezziwig’s wife. Prim and proper but not afraid to have fun. Vocal range: Soprano (C4-F5)
A beautiful woman who Scrooge loved deeply when he was a young man. Belle broke off their engagement after Scrooge became consumed with greed and the lust for wealth. She later married another man. Vocal range: Soprano/Belt (Bb3-Eb5) Must be a strong mover.
A handsome young Scrooge in love with Belle before he started going down the wrong path. Vocal range: Tenor (Bb2-Ab4) Must be a strong mover.
A rich but generous man that seeks to raise money for the poor. Vocal range: Baritone/Tenor (G3-F4) Must be a good mover.
A young newsboy that serves as the narrator of the show. Vocal range: Tenor or Boy Sop (C3-Eb4) Must be a good mover.
