ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. The musical "Shrek" is currently in search of singers. More details are below. About the play: Set in a mythical “once upon a time” sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets? Additional information: TEXT: Please prepare a maximum one-minute piece of comedic or dramatic text of your choosing (Memorization recommended but not required. Know it well enough to be able to add character and not be looking down the entire time). This is preferably from a play, but can also be from a film or story. MUSIC: Please prepare one short song from musical theatre or Disney. Directors will provide an accopanist for your sheet music, but we also will have Bluetooth capabilities if you have a backing track. DANCE: Please come to your audition with comfortable clothing. All auditionees will be asked to participate in an hour-long movement audition with the choreographer where we will see how well you can move and follow routines. This will help them better place people in casting as some roles require more movement than others. It also gives us a chance to see how you work in a group and take direction. CALLBACKS: If you are being considered for one of the principal roles, you may be asked to attend the callbacks on Sunday, October 6. Not all roles will be called back. If you receive a callback, you will be notified of the time and provided callback materials by Wednesday, October 3, after all initial auditions have concluded. (Callback Location will be provided by the Stage Manager) This does not have to be memorized, but familiarity is strongly encouraged. If you're interested, please apply.

The beautiful princess of Far Far Away, she transforms into an ogre every night when the sun sets. She is rescued by Shrek and eventually falls in love with him. A talking donkey who joins Shrek on the run from Farquaad’s guards. Quite the chatterbox, he is not deterred by Shrek’s looks and practically forces himself into his good graces. Easily frightened and pushy, but also an optimist with heart. Vocal range top: B4. Vocal range bottom: C3.

Lord FarquaadMale30-45 y.o.All ethnicities

The comically short, ruthless ruler of Duloc. He is in search of a princess to marry so that he can become King. He has an intensely unfair bias against fairytale creatures that stems from a resentment of his father. Self-absorbed, lonely, and cruel. Performance will be entirely on knees with padding. Vocal range top: D5. Vocal range bottom: B2.

A dragon that has been charged with guarding Princess Fiona in her isolated castle. She eventually falls in love with Donkey and attempts to keep him there forever. Imposing and flirtatious, but tired of her job as the glorified baby-sitter. Vocal range top: Eb5. Vocal range bottom: F3.
