Casting call for a non-Equity staged reading of "The Mountains Are Burning", a new musical. Seeking cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the details below. About the project: A non-Equity staged reading of "The Mountains Are Burning", a new musical about labor activism in the mines of 1902 Pennsylvania. Friends and family clash, love is found and lost, and a community faces a choice: to stand by or to engage in the dangerous struggle against the powerful coal barons. Rate: $600.00 per gig. Additional info: Music has a folk-Americana feel. Interesting, off-beat voices welcome. Characters are gritty, working class. Look should be appropriate to the period. In-person auditions will be scheduled on Friday, August 16 (6:00 pm – 10:00 pm) and callbacks on Saturday, August 17 (3:00 pm – 7:00 pm). READING: Oct. 20, 2024 in Pomona, NY (Rockland County). Transportation provided. REHEARSALS: Five evening rehearsals in NYC, early-mid October, plus a run-through day of reading. When applying, please include a self-tape and pic/resume. Include an appropriate monologue (one-minute max) and 16 bars of a ballad or up-tempo song.
