Equity Performers Needed for "Pacific Overtures" Show
The company is seeking Equity chorus dancers for "Pacific Overtures", please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Rate: CONTRACT SPT $587.12 weekly minimum (SPT 5) Additional info: Rehearsals begin - October 1 Tech Rehearsals begin - October 29 First Preview - November 7 Opening - Sunday, November 10, 2024 for a three week run (5 performances a week) Closing - December 1, 2024 Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Sneakers or flats and kneepads, as actors will be learning both contemporary and traditional Japanese movement. Singing will not be required for this call, but those who are called back on another day will be asked to bring sheet music marked as they would like it played, to sing one song (1 minute in length) in legit style. Also bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

Baritone or Mezzo. The play’s narrator who explains and comments on the action of the story. He will also occasionally join along with the play’s characters.
Baritone. A clever fisherman turned Samurai who is exposed to the western ways but remains immersed in the traditions and values of Japan.
Baritone. A minor Samurai chosen by the Shogun to defend his country against the foreigners and later becomes Governor of Uraga. Kayama embraces western ideology and customs, creating tension with his friend, Manjiro. Feels a large sense of honor and duty to his position.
Baritone or Mezzo. First Counselor to the Shogun who eventually becomes Shogun himself. Bends to western ideologies at a grave cost.
Kayama’s wife who fears her husband will not be successful in his mission to keep the Americans and is struck by grief.
All will double as other roles including Shogun, Shogun’s Mother, Admirals, Samurais, Councilors, & Observers, etc. All will be playing multiple roles. Men will be playing male and female roles and women will be playing female and male roles.
