About the project: SYNOPSIS: When Inspector Goole arrives unexpectedly at the prosperous Birling family home, their peaceful dinner party is shattered by his investigations into the death of a young working-class woman. His startling revelations shake the very foundations of their lives and challenge audiences to question their own consciences. Additional info: Director is seeking 7 players to fill the following roles (note that age indications are for character portrayal notes only – actors outside the noted age ranges can still be considered). You do not need to attend both audition dates but you are welcome to do so. Auditions will consist of reading from the script and interacting with other actors. IMPORTANT: All actors must present a government-issued photo ID at auditions. Rehearsals will generally run Monday-Thursday from mid-July through tech week. Actors with any conflicts during tech week will not be considered. Please bring known conflicts to auditions. The full rehearsal schedule will be available for review at auditions. A mysterious inspector who says he is investigating the suicide of a young woman named Eva Smith and questions the Birlings’ involvement in it.
A wealthy factory owner and politician. He represents the capitalist ruling class and describes himself with pride as a hard-headed businessman.
Arthur’s wife. A rather cold woman who as the leader of a charitable organization assumes a social and moral superiority over those she considers lesser.
Sheila begins as a naive and self-centered young woman, but by the play’s end her social conscience has been awakened and she has a new awareness of her responsibilities to others.
A young man with a drinking habit, he is distanced from the rest of his family and struggles to talk to them.
The son of Arthur’s biggest business rival, he is at the Birling home to celebrate his recent engagement to Sheila.
The Birlings’ maid.
