Seeking cast for "The Runaway" the musical. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: SYNOPSIS: Jonah, the Prophet of the Lord has not heard from God for sometime, until one day, God gives Jonah a message to go to Nineveh to warn the people of His soon coming destruction because the people there are evil and disobedient. Unfortunately, this isn't the message Jonah wanted to receive, so he tries to run away from his calling from God, until it's too late and he is swallowed up by a big fish, but does he get another chance to warn the people of Nineveh? The Runaway the musical, will have you enjoying reliving this bible story of love, faith, hope and testament with a new original Broadway rock/gospel score! Rate: Principal roles ($200.00 for the entire run). Supporting principal roles: ($50.00 for the entire run). Additional info: Requirements for Auditions: 1. Please have a resume/headshot to give to the production team. 2. Prepare a 32 bar piece from a musical theater OR Christian song. An accompanist is provided. *KING SENNACHERIB and CAPTAIN ONOR will be double cast. CALLBACKS will be at Saturday, April 6th, 3:00pm-5:30pm. REHEARSALS will begin in June on Mondays and Thursdays at 7:00pm-9:45pm, with a possible Sunday, once a month from 4:00pm-7:00pm. *At auditions come with your conflicts and directors will try to work around those, as long as they know upfront. TECH WEEK & PERFORMANCES: Tech Week (Mandatory) August 5th- 9th 6pm-10pm Performances: August 10th at 2pm and 7pm All Performances/Tech Week will be in Carmel, Indiana. The lead, protagonist of the production. He is a prophet who loves the Lord, but has not heard from him in weeks. He is frustrated and impatient. Jonah as well is a very character role. He likes to be sneaky, sarcastic, but is smart and witty. He does not want to deliver the message to Nineveh, because he doesn’t think those people, due to their evil ways should get a second chance. This role must be played with a very comical, yet serious personality. PRINCIPAL ROLE.
The exotic dancer of Nineveh. She is determined that she is being called by the Lord and feels different about what is happening in Nineveh. A “change”. She has attitude, but stands up for herself. She ends up falling in love with Captain Fabio “Fabio”. This character is similar to Esmerelda from Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame. PRINCIPAL ROLE.
The captain of the guards of Ninveh. He is a strong man who loves to live his own life. He is intrigued by Rose and forms a foundation, in which he falls in love with her. This character should represent “Phoebus” from Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame. PRINCIPAL ROLE.
A spirit “man” who is the guiding force of the world. He has a strong voice and appearance. He is loving, yet strict when need be. He guides Jonah through his trials and errors of running away, yet has mercy and compassion for him. PRINCIPAL ROLE.
Jonah’s no-nonsense overbearing older sister. This role must have a strong stage presence & take command of the stage. She always thinks she knows best & as well has bi-polar moments, when she yells at her husband, but then turns around & loves him in the same breath. Hershma is somewhat the voice of reason of the family of Jonah, trying to prove herself as a woman in the biblical times, she is a go getter with wit and attitude, but loves her brother Jonah. PRINCIPAL ROLE.
Hershma’s comical, yet go with the flow brother in law. He is married to Hershma. Terenton is very chill and sometimes does not think before he speaks, yet always has something “wise” to say but can never back it up. This role is for someone who has great comedic timing on stage, yet can act very immature too. And he always has the right jokes at the right time to make light of a situation. PRINCIPAL ROLE.
Jonah and Hershma’s elderly father. He is well respected in Israel and loves his son. Amitti loves the Lord and is wise and is kind. He is very smart, wise, and knows a lot about the word of God. He is Jonah’s biggest fan. PRINCIPAL ROLE.
A young teenager/OR little girl who wants to be a sailor girl with her dad Captain Onor. However, she cannot because back in the “biblical” days, women were not thought to do much. Bethany is full of energy and life yet is a daddy’s girl. She helps Jonah get on the boat, where he ends up going overboard into the sea. In this show, the role of Bethany, can be played by a young adult girl acting as a child. PRINCIPAL ROLE.
An excited neighbor friend of Jonah who loves the Lord and follows Prophet Jonah. This role will be a part of the ensemble too. SUPPORTING PRINCIPAL ROLE.
Another friendly, over the top neighbor friend of Jonah who loves Jonah’s preaching and the Lord! This role will be a part of the ensemble too. SUPPORTING PRINCIPAL ROLE.
Another joyous person in the town who loves Jonah and the Lord. This role will be a part of the ensemble too. SUPPORTING PRINCIPAL ROLE.
A person at the market place. They are very full of life. They meet Jonah when he runs into them as he’s running away from his calling from God. Lebeta, gives wise council in a funny way. This is a great character role, for someone larger in size than life! This part will be a part of the ensemble too. SUPPORTING PRINCIPAL ROLE.
A very big proud man who is the captain of the ship in Joppa. He is larger than life and loves his career and especially his daughter, Bethany who is, as he refers to his “princess”. SUPPORTING PRINCIPAL ROLE.
The King of Nineveh, who is wise and good. However, realizes his and his peoples ways are not of the Lord. Great cameo role for someone who is relax, yet has a strong demeanor. SUPPORTING PRINCIPAL ROLE.
A dancer friend of Rose. She is funny, yet questions many things. SUPPORTING PRINCIPAL ROLE.
Another dancer friend of Rose. Has a lot of attitude. SUPPORTING PRINCIPAL ROLE.
Directors will cast four more singers and dancers (2 males and 2 female). They will be the extra voices/dancers in Nineveh, People of Israel, the People at the market place, and the People in Joppa.
