Singing Audition for "Sister Act" Show
Opportunities for singers, dancers, and actors in the stage production of "Sister Act." Please review the details below. About the project: Based on the 1992 film, this feel-good comedy musical will have you laughing and dancing along! A nightclub singer picks up a new habit and hides out in a convent to escape from her dangerous ex, trading in her nightclub personna for a choir robe. Additional info: Wear comfortable shoes and clothing for movement. Audition music and acting cuts will be provided. Rehearsals are planned for Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Performance dates: June 13-15, 21-22, 28-30, 2024 Be prepared to sing and dance. Will teach you three songs from the show, and they will be used for auditions. Those auditioning for Deloris Van Cartier will sing Fabulous Baby. Women will sing Raise Your Voice. Men will sing I Could Be That Guy. Everyone auditioning is encouraged to listen to the Broadway Cast Album to become familiar with the music. Will have music auditions first, and the directors will start with those interested in the role of Deloris Van Cartier first. Then, the directors will add all the women. Then, the directors will audition the men. Movement will follow for everyone, followed by reading from the script. Rehearsals are planned for Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. An aspiring performer, trying to find both fame and a place in the world. When forced to hide in the convent, she initially refuses to embrace her new lifestyle but learns to embrace it when she works with the choir. Loud-mouthed, and sassy, but ultimately caring.
The head of the convent, sarcastic and a bit stiff. Extremely protective about keeping her sisters away from the outside world, which puts her in direct opposition to Deloris and her musical teachings.
A postulant, abandoned as a baby and raised at the convent. Shy and soft-spoken, but singing with Deloris lets her find her voice. Her wallflower lifestyle has made her live a shell of a life.
A nun of the convent. Consistently perky, enthusiastic, and easily excitable.
A nun of the convent and the head of the choir. Rather deadpan and the least welcoming of any of the nuns, but she gets caught up in Deloris's soul music.
One of the heads of the convent. Constantly concerned with financial matters, though soul music surprisingly puts him in a different mood.
A club owner, notorious gangster, and Deloris's boyfriend. Cocky and controlling, always on the verge of violence.
The desk chief at the Philadelphia police station and a high school classmate of Deloris who helps get her into hiding. Faces a lot of nerves when under pressure, causing him to sweat profusely. He still yearns for Deloris after all these years, and dreams of being her hero.
Curtis's nephew and one of his thugs. Deft and cognizant of the fact, constantly in a state of ignorant bliss.
