About the project: In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. Additional info: Show Runs April 11th – May 5th, 2024 (with performances on every Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday) Rehearsals begin Sunday, February 4th, 2024 Invited Callback: December 20th, 2023 The audition will consist of singing an audition song, readings from the script while using accents, and learning and performing a dancing routine. Dress appropriately for movement if you are auditioning for a dancing role. Content Warning: This production may not be suitable for all audiences. A world-weary pragmatist – the winning side is her side and is ready to swap alliances for whatever grass is the greener. German accent. Note: Fritzi is also one of the core Kit Kat Ensemble and thus has outstanding dance skills.
