"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" Show Needs Talent
The company is holding auditions for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" Show and looking for performers, please see the details below ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box. Additional info: Auditions will consist of three components: singing, dancing, and acting. Please prepare 16-32 bars (about 30-45 seconds) of any song, acapella, that showcases your range and abilities. Sides will be provided for the acting portion. You can read the script in preparation at the link above. Lastly, a short movement piece as a group routine will be taught by our choreographer. Please dress appropriately and warm up before you arrive. REHEARSALS: Beginning Jan 2 through February 15, 2024, 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Monday through Thursday at The Empty Space, with tech week February 19 through 22, 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
