About the project: Four eccentric Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. When they learn trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they know it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue — and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the high school dance on the straight and narrow, but when one student wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town has a date with destiny. On a mission to transform lives, Broadway’s brassiest join forces with a courageous girl and the town’s citizens. The result is love that brings them all together. (Theatrical Rights Worldwide) Additional info: Rehearsals are generally, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, beginning in January. The director will set weekend rehearsals and work sessions as needed. Please keep this in mind when providing your list of conflicts. Rehearsals will be scheduled to make the best use of everyone’s time. Cast members are required to attend every rehearsal once The Prom moves into the theatre in February. Known for her strong Broadway belt vocals and large stage presence. Jaded with relationships, so does not believe in true love until she meets Mr. Hawkins. Must be a strong actor and singer.
Male presenting. Vocal range: High baritone/low tenor (B2-F#4). A Broadway star. Completely politically incorrect and doesn’t know it. Impulsive and loves to make a scene everywhere he goes. Must be a strong singer. Seeking a big, Broadway belter.
Male presenting. Vocal range: Pop singer (C3-Ab4) Pretentious Juilliard graduate recently cast in the non-Equity tour of Godspell. Handsome, charming, funny and loves to hear himself talk. Must be a strong actor, singer and mover.
Male presenting. Vocal range: High baritone (G2-C4). A small town principal. Easily flustered. Strait-laced. A Broadway enthusiast. Must be a good singer.
Female presenting. Vocal range: Alto w/belt (Ab3-E5). A long-running (20 years!) ensemble member in the Broadway production of Chicago, she’s a jaded Fosse-girl with a heart of gold. Must be a strong actor/singer/dancer. Flexibility is an asset.
Female presenting. Vocal range: Alto (A3-C5). Alyssa’s intimidating, conservative, single mother. Head of the PTA. Knows deep down that Alyssa is struggling with her identity. She is too afraid to face that reality because she fears Alyssa will face a hard life. Must be a strong actor.
Male presenting. Vocal range: baritone. A charismatic press agent who works for both Dee Dee and Barry. Dry wit a must. Seeking a great character actor.
