About the project: This holiday tradition continues with the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. Capture the magic and joy of the Christmas season as the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future lead miserly Ebenezer Scrooge on a powerful journey of transformation and redemption. This production celebrates the timeless spirit of Christmas and is a beloved holiday treat for the whole family! Additional info: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script & singing (optional). NOTE: Directors are very interested in working with a truly diverse cast - please come as you are and do not be deterred by A Christmas Carol stereotypes. Callbacks (if necessary): Sunday, October 8th, 2023 from 5 pm – 7 pm. Rehearsals run October 23 – December 7, 2023. Performances run December 8 - 17, 2023. If you are interested, please apply.

50+ (looking at all ages - can age up with make-up.) Greedy, crotchety miserly man through most of the show who is taught the true meaning of Christmas and becomes a kinder, happier human being.
Mid 30s on up. Kind affable man who deeply loves his family, is loyal to Scrooge and who knows what the true important things in life are.
Scrooge's nephew. A sweet, kind man who loves Christmas. He is the son of Scrooge's beloved sister Fan. Scrooge is his last remaining relative and he loves him as the last living reminder of his mother. He genuinely believes Scrooge is not as bad as everyone else in London believes.
50+ (looking at all ages, can age up with make-up). Scrooge's partner who died seven years before the beginning of the play. He is cursed to roam the world, seeing the plights and miseries of man and being unable to do anything about them because he is a cursed ghost. He takes pity on Scrooge and does not want him to share his fate, so he arranges for Scrooge to have his experiences with the three spirits.
A magical being who is part of nature and can travel back through time. They show Scrooge the Christmases of his past.
A magical being who is the physical embodiment of Christmas. Mostly jovial, and happy, this character has moments of deep sadness and anger when witnessing the ignorant, thoughtless cruelty of humans to one another.
Need to be strong and fit - A magical being can travel through to the future. For this role the performer will be required to be in a "Grim Reaper" type costume that can get heavy. Performer needs to be physically capable of wearing this costume.
Need a soprano, tenor, alto and bass. They will be singing, in harmony during certain parts of the show. These carolers can be other roles if they so desire OR they can only choose to be the singing role.
These two come to Scrooge's office to collect donations to help the poor. They are kind hearted and are not used to dealing with people of Scrooge's nature. Scrooge's opinions at the beginning of the play genuinely appall them.
Owner of a stall on the streets of London who has borrowed money from Scrooge and cannot pay it back by the deadline. He is good man who is trying to take care of his family, but Scrooge and what he can do to his family truly terrifies him.
Wife of the stall keeper. She helps her husband with his business. She is genuinely afraid of what will happen to her and her family because of Scrooge and his unwillingness to bend or compromise.
She works for Scrooge as his part-time help. She is feisty and snarky and is one of the few people who is not afraid of Scrooge and will speak back to him. Good comedic timing is a strong plus for the performer of this role.
Scrooge as a young man. This role transitions -- he starts as naïve, awkward and slightly sweet and in the next scene his is starting to become the old Scrooge we are more familiar with.
Scrooge's Fiance. She is fun and deeply loves Scrooge. Unbeknownst to Young Scrooge, she anchors him to his humanity and feelings. Once she is gone, he completely shuts himself off from his emotions. She is related to the Fezziwigs and this is how she knows Scrooge.
Scrooge's best friend at Fezziwig's. He is secretly in love with Belle but he adores and respects Scrooge too much to do anything about it. He loves to dance and live life.
40-whatever years. Scrooge's employer. He is the boss that everyone wants to have. He is affable, loves his family and celebrates Christmas every year in style. He loves to dance, especially with Mrs. Fezziwig.
40- whatever years. Fezziwig's wife. She loves everyone and they love her. She is constantly smiling - and though she can be meddlesome, it always comes from a good place and people love her for it. She loves to dance.
Looks like Marley, only young. Is at the Fezziwig party. A friend of Scrooge. Surprisingly, considering what we know about him - he loves to dance.
Will play music during the party scenes.
50-whatever years. Belle as an older lady. She is not only a mother, but a loving grandmother. She has married Dickie.
This will be the same performer who plays Belle-- she is a carbon copy of her mother -- and Scrooge at first mistakes her for Belle.
50- whatever years. Belle's husband. He loves his family and is very content with this life.
Mid-30s on up. Bob Cratchit's wife. She is a devoted mother and wife. She loves Bob fiercely. She is usually mild tempered and patient - except when it comes to her family being mistreated. Then she is feisty and fiercely protective.
Oldest female Cratchit child.
Fred's wife. Has never met her Uncle Scrooge and is a little resentful about it. For all that, she is a lovely woman who loves Fred and loves Christmas.

Friend of Fred's and a serious flirt who is very interested in one of Wilma's sisters.

Age 20- whatever. On the shady side of the law. He is a procurer of items - and is not very particular about how they get to him. He is very much a Fabian type character.
