About the project: This is an energetic and glittering show with roles for fantastic women! Winter Wonderettes is a musical that takes place at the annual Harper’s Hardware Holiday Party. This musical features great four-part harmony 60s versions of classics such as 'Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town' and 'Jingle Bell Rock.' This is an energetic and glittering show with roles for four fantastic women. Synopsis: When Santa turns up missing, the girls use their talent and creative ingenuity to save the party. Additional info: Audition Requirements: Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your slot to complete an audition form. Prepare 1 song, 32 bars in the style of the show; No accompaniment provided. Please bring a track on a phone or tablet. There will be a speaker available to connect to. Please do not sing from the show. Prepare a 1 minute monologue in the style of the show. Bring a headshot and resume. Come prepared with your conflicts from October 16th through December 17th to list on the audition form. Please be thorough; some conflicts can be scheduled around if directors know ahead of time. Beginning November 25th, you must be free all nights for technical rehearsals and performances. Please note, this is Thanksgiving weekend. Callbacks: Wednesday, October 4. If called back, you may be asked to sing a designated snippet from the show, read scenes from the script, and more. Potential rehearsal schedule will be available at auditions. Rehearsals will most likely begin the week of October 16. Read Through scheduled for Friday, October 6th. The "bad girl" of the group, now reformed (to a point); sexy with a dry and sassy wit; has a miles-high jet-black beehive; a cross between The Ronettes and an early Priscilla Presley; has a tattoo on her left upper arm that reads “Billy Ray” for her boyfriend who passed away a few years back (from “The Marvelous Wonderettes”); Mezzo soprano with belt; sings lead vocal line on most group songs; range: A3–E5. A strong singer and mover with a good sense of comedy.
The overachiever of the group; has now blossomed into a full-fledged adult overachiever; an elementary school teacher with cat-eye glasses; has recently returned from her honeymoon with her new husband Bill, an audience member; controls the evening’s events, even when Betty Jean is in charge; the one to cover for mistakes and is always ready to jump in and save the day; Soprano with belt; range: F#3–A5. A strong singer and mover with a good sense of comedy.
The self-anointed clown of the group, always vying for attention from her best friend Cindy Lou; loves that she is finally in charge of the group, if only for this one performance; has worked at Harper’s Hardware since high school & is now in corporate sales, a fact she is very proud of; after a few tumultuous years, she married her high school boyfriend Johnny; Strong alto with big belt; range: D3-–Eb5. A strong singer and mover with a good sense of comedy
