Rodgers & Hammerstein’s exuberant classic is a lively, tuneful musical full of cowboys, farmers, romance and fearless optimism. Additional info: What to Prepare: Please prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show that displays your vocal range. Please bring appropriate dancewear as some actors may be put through a basic dance audition. Actors may also be asked to read from the script. Production Dates: January 19 – February 4, 2024. Playhouse encourages people of all races, abilities, and genders to audition for the roles they most identify with. Please see the attachment.

(Baritone): He is a handsome, strong, rough-hewn, clever cowhand in love with Laurey, but refuses to admit it.
(Soprano): She is spunky and smart with an air of innocence about her. She lives with her Aunt Eller on a farm and is in love with Curly, though she may not admit it.
(Mezzo-soprano, Age 50+): She is rough with a fair heart which makes her a leader in the community. Good values and a sense of humor. She raises Laurey as her own.
(Soprano Belter with E): She is Andrew Carnes’ daughter; she “Can’t Say No” to anyone. A comic romantic lead, she is wooed by Ali Hakim, but she also has feelings for Will Parker.
(Tenor, Age 25-35): A cowboy that is smitten with Ado Annie. He has a bright comic appeal. Will Parker must be able to dance.
(Baritone): Judd is a farmhand on Aunt Eller’s and Laurey’s farm. He does not fit into society well. He has some dark secrets and is feared and treated as an outsider by some. He has feelings for Laurey and will do anything to get her.
A traveling peddler who says he’s from Persia (present-day Iran). Though we aren’t sure how much of what he says we should believe. He has an eye for the ladies. The role calls for a clever comic actor; a believable accent is encouraged.
He is the overprotective father of Ado Annie; he thinks Will Parker is “no good” and defends the honor of his daughter with his ever-present shotgun.
Gertie is an obnoxious loudmouth girl with a “unique” laugh. She has eyes for Curly making Laurey jealous.
Tenor, He is the owner of the ranch where the box social is held.
Is the Federal Marshall in town.
