"Seussical" Musical Needs Performers

Mainstage auditions for "Seussical" show. Looking for cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: "Oh, the thinks you can think" when Dr. Seuss' best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper! The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. Seussical is fun for the whole family! Performers of all ages will be excited to portray the characters from the familiar Dr. Seuss fables. Additional info: CALLBACKS will be by invitation only and date is TBD PERFORMANCE DATES: Friday, October 20 at 7:00pm Saturday, October 21 at 7:00pm Sunday, October 22 at 2pm AUDITION INFO: Looking to build a diverse, high energy cast. Performers of all gender expressions are encouraged to audition for any and all parts. Please note that the music will be performed as written. -Please be prepared with 32 bars of a song of your choice in the style of the show or from the show (about 30 seconds). Audition songs will be acapella, or you can also bring an audio file with NO background vocals on an iPod or phone. Please have music downloaded instead of playing from YouTube. Select 1 monologue to read from this list (see attachment). Monologues do not have to be memorized. Seussical Song Cuts (see attachment). Download, fill out and bring the audition form (see attachment) to auditions with a recent picture of yourself (pictures will not be returned). There will not be a dance call at auditions, please make sure to indicate dance experience on the audition form and a dance call will be scheduled at a later date if needed. Arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled audition time slot and check in with Stage Manager. All roles are available. General rehearsal dates (see attachment). Directors will try to schedule rehearsal calls to suit cast availability as much as possible. Make sure to fill out all conflicts on your audition form (be specific). Tech week will run from Sunday, October 15th, 2023 through Thursday. October 19th, 2023. No absences will be accepted during tech week or performances. Not all performers will be asked to attend all rehearsals. Apply for an audition timeslot, walk-ins will be accepted and seen between appointments. Video auditions will be accepted if you cannot make in- person auditions – please email 1 video file titled with your first and last name with song and monologue. Make sure to fill out an audition form attached as well. Video auditions are due 7/31/23 by 4pm.
