Casting Call for Musical "The Addams Family"
Auditions for fall production of "The Addams Family". Actors wanted. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. Rate: Please note all acting roles are unpaid. Additional info: Musical Audition: For your musical audition, please prepare: ONE song, 16-32 bars in length, (30 seconds) in the style of the show. Please bring Sheet music in the appropriate key with cuts marked. Accompanist is provided; no CD tracks or a cappella please. Songs from the show are not required, but acceptable. Some singers may be asked to demonstrate their vocal range through basic vocal exercises. Speaking audition: You must also prepare a one-minute or less comedic or contemporary monologue from a published play. Show character and strong choices with your monologue piece. Bring clothing and shoes for movement if you are asked to come for call-backs. Callbacks: August 20th. Rehearsals: general schedule is Monday - Thursday 6:30 to 9:30, starting Sept. 5, with a cast meeting read-through. A specific schedule will be created after the show is cast, the days you need to be there will be based on your role. There may be a weekend rehearsal added if needed, and a "Sitz Probe" rehearsal with the Orchestra will be on a Saturday in early November. Production dates: November 17-19. A suave man of Spanish descent who adores his wife and children and take immense pride in being an Addams. He has great comedic timing and is a strong dancer. Spanish accent is a plus.
The beautiful, leggy and mysterious head of the Addams family who believes strongly in family tradition. She is confident and sexy with a side of dry wit and a strong mover. Tango skills a plus.
Gothic big sister who has her father’s heart and her mother’s sensibility falls in love with a “normal” boy who she brings home to meet the family. She showcases compassion, a bit of stubbornness and a strong will. Shehas a strong belt.
Serving as the narrator of the show, Uncle Fester is lovable, childish, enthusiastic and highly incorrigible. He has great comedic timing and a tenor voice. Ukulele skills a plus, as well as willingness to be bald!
Stage age 102. Fun, quirky and feisty, Grandma always has a trick up her sleeve. She is wise, wacky and sometimes a bit crass, with great comedic timing and physicality.
A man of few words, Lurch is the Addams Family butler. His unmistakable commanding presence is accented by grunts, moans and deliberate movement. Must have great non-verbal story-telling abilities, think facial expressions and sound. He has a rich bass voice.
The uptight and father of Lucas and cold shouldered husband to Alice, cynical Mal meets the Addams with skepticism. He finds them too bizarre, not to his liking and cannot fathom being related to them.
Lucas’s mother and Mal’s wife, Alice is strongly devoted to her family. She presents herself as reserved and collected (even when speaking in rhyme) until she learns to unleash her wild side at dinner. She is a strong comedic actress with a strong belt.
The hopeful romantic and son of Alice and Mal, Lucas has fallen in love with Wednesday and intends to marry her. He is optimistic and hopeful, yet struggles to find balance between the families. Strong singer.
18+, all Vocal Ranges, male and female (about 5 of each). The Addams ancestors from various eras serve as the chorus for the show and help bring the story to life. They will be featured both singing and dancing throughout the entire show. Need to be actors with both vocal and dancing abilities.
