Mezzo – belt. A star, stand-out dancer, has had featured roles in two Broadway shows. She has been in the business for a while and is now in need of employment. She has a complicated romantic history with the director, Zach. Seeking a strong triple threat performer. Vocal – “The Music and the Mirror.”
Mezzo – belt. A streetwise optimist from the Bronx. Starry-eyed. Determined. Friends with Paul. Vocal – “Nothing,” and “What I Did For Love”.
Mezzo. Tall. Funny, nervously awkward in personality but not physicality. Charming with a lot of and hope.
Mezzo – belt. Has an opinion and isn’t afraid to says what she thinks, sassy, fun, dancer who was not getting cast because of her looks until she had plastic surgery and “had it all done.” Vocal – “Dance 10, Looks 3″.
Mezzo. Very insecure about herself, however irrationally. She is quiet and vulnerable. Vocal – “At the Ballet.”
Experienced dancer. Motherly feel with a sense of humor. Born in Chinatown, New York.
Alto. Al’s scatter-brained wife who can’t sing. She is awkward, anxious and hilarious. She doesn’t really sing in her number but does sing in the rest of the show. Vocal – “Sing”
Mezzo. A sweet kid-sister type. A dreamer from a troubled family. Vocal – “At the Ballet.”
Alto. Mature, experienced dancer on the line. Confident, brassy, and sophisticated. One of the more popular Broadway performers/dancers. Vocal – “At the Ballet.”
Non- singing. A charismatic, calculated Broadway director/choreographer. Strong, uses his power. Has a history with Cassie that brings up many feelings. Non-singing, but should have movement ability, as he demonstrates choreography.
Tenor. Zach’s long-time assistant. Helpful, Confident, leads the audition.
Baritone. Everything is a joke, witty guy, had an unusual upbringing in upstate New York.
Tenor. Optimistic, naïve, charming. Youngest at the audition. Good dancer with memories of a gonorrhea scare. Youngest on the line.
Tenor. Determined, confident but likable. He’s worked with Zach before. From New Jersey. Must be able to tap. Vocal – “I Can Do That”
Tenor. African-American from Missouri. Enthusiastic, cool and very funny. Likeable and laid back. Strong dancer, dynamic. Vocal – “And” “Gimme the Ball”
Baritone. From the Bronx. Kristine’s husband. From a working class, hyper masculine. Strong singer, the contrast to his non-singing wife Kristine. Vocal – “Sing”
Baritone. Introverted and slightly insecure but loves.
Baritone. A married ladies man from Kansas City who loves cars and women. Has worked with Zach before so he has confidence at the audition.
Baritone. A droll, sassy smart-alecky. Broadway vet. Has worked with Zach before. East Side New York.
