About the project: It’s the brassy, bright, and promising year of 1959. Boston’s Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage, the entire cast and crew become suspects. It is up to a local fast-talking detective, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan, to save the show, solve the case, and maybe even find love, all without getting killed. Packed with glorious tunes from the legendary songwriting team of Kander & Ebb, Curtains is a witty and hilarious musical whodunit that you won’t want to miss! Additional info: Audition Information Session: June 7 from 7-8 pm on Zoom. Callbacks: June 14 (Wednesday) at 7-10 pm Cast List: June 16 by 5 pm Rehearsals: Mondays – Fridays 7-10 pm, Sundays 1-5 pm June 19, 2023 – August 4, 2023 Tech rehearsals: August 5 – 10, 2023 Performances: August 11 –27, 2023 All auditionees should arrive at 7:00 p.m. on the day they sign up for and be prepared for a dance audition from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Auditionees will then be called in for vocal auditions in groups of 10 or less. Please prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of or from the show. All those auditioning should bring sheet music in the correct key – an accompanist will be provided. Fading Hollywood star. A diva, who has no right to be one, she is a terrible singer and actress who stars in the show-within-the-show and gets murdered on its opening night. female presenting
