JANE. Late 20s-early 30s. The eldest and most beautiful Bennet daughter. Kind, idealistic, diffident. Always tries to do the right thing. MISS DE BOURGH. Lady Catherine's daughter; a gremlin. Probably allergic to sun. Underneath all her veils, she may be covered in scales. "Pride and Prejudice"

LIZZY. A year or two younger than Jane. Clever, spirited; can be sharp-tongued. Gets flustered, which makes her klutzy. Prides her-self on good judgment. Not especially beautiful. Very very scared of marriage, after absorbing the lessons of her parents' marriage. (The actor playing Lizzy must not double.) "Pride and Prejudice"

LADY CATHERINE. Patrician Caesar-meets-drill sergeant. "Pride and Prejudice"

MR. DARCY. Late 30s-40s. One of the richest men in England. Too proper for his own good; awkward in most social contexts. Prides himself on self-control and good judgment. (The actor playing Mr. Darcy must not double.) "Pride and Prejudice"

MR. COLLINS. A pedantic, obtuse man. The original mansplainer. Rector to Lady Catherine. WICKHAM. An unfairly handsome and charming gentleman. Probably a sociopath. Raised with Darcy. MISS BINGLEY. A very rich, very beautiful young woman. Fancies herself witty. (May be played by male or female actor, depending on doubling.) "Pride and Prejudice"

MR. BINGLEY. Late 30s-40s. Loves the world and the world loves him. Mr. Darcy's particular friend. Almost literally a dog. MARY. The third Bennet girl. Violent and dark undertones; prone to pedanticism and sulking. A dark goth Bronte character trapped in an Austen world. Coughs to get attention, or to make a point; may fancy that she is dying. CHARLOTTE LUCAS. Same age as Lizzy. A practical girl with a good sense of humor. May be doubled with Mr. Bennet. MR. BENNET. The patriarch of the Bennet family. Finds amuse-ment in absurdity; often looks for respectable escape from the chaos of his family life. Can be somewhat apathetic; probably a bit depressed, under everything. Enjoys antagonizing. Disappointed in marriage. "Pride and Prejudice"

MRS. BENNET. The matriarch of the Bennet family. Mostly a silly woman, of mean understanding and variable temper. Hypochon-driac; when she's upset, she fancies that she's dying. The business of her life is to get her daughters married. She traumatizes her family with some regularity. SERVANTS. (All servants with lines in this production happen to be male.) "The Wolves"

A rakish, handsome, sophisticated gallant and narrator of the show. He is warm, cordial, and inviting to the audience, but has his own darker moments. He aids the performers in orchestrating the story. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: Ab2 "The Fantasticks"

The Girl (luisa) A button-maker's young and pretty daughter, she is a romantic idealist who falls in love with Matt. She is naive, yet honest and tender. Vocal range top: B5 Vocal range bottom: B3 "The Fantasticks"

An innocent, young man who is searching for love and adventure. A bright guy, but naive and even foolish at times, approaching situations with a false bravado. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: A2 "The Fantasticks"

A former boisterous navy man and meticulous gardener who fakes a fight with Bellomy in hopes of getting their children to fall in love. Vocal range top: F#4 Vocal range bottom: A2 "The Fantasticks"

A fastidious button-maker and also a picky gardener who fakes a fight with Hucklebee in hopes of getting their children together. Vocal range top: F#4 Vocal range bottom: A2 "The Fantasticks"

An aging, over-the-top Thespian who specializes in reciting Shakespeare, he is a commedia clown; his world is the stage and he knows no other reality. "The Fantasticks"

Henry's goofy sidekick and another former actor who specializes in stage deaths. A commedia clown, his world is the stage and he does not live in reality. "The Fantasticks"

A speechless presence who watches, acts as the wall, and deals with props; the "invisible" stage assistant. Should be able to easily assist in the story or fade into the background unnoticed. "The Fantasticks"
