An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun.

When Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds.

About the project:
Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Please bring sheet music in your correct key, double-sided, hole punched and placed in a 3-ring binder. A pianist will be provided. Karaoke tracks will not be accepted as accompaniment.
Those interested in the roles of Shakespeare or Bea will be asked to sing a short musical excerpt in addition to your chosen musical piece. The excerpt will be provided at the time of booking your audition.
Only those auditioning for the following characters will be required to do a reading: Shakespeare, Nick Bottom, Nigel Bottom, Bea, Portia, Nostradamus, Brother Jeremiah, Lord Clapham and Shylock. Anyone interested in ensemble only will not be required to read.
You will be provided with a reading from the script at the time of booking your audition so that you will have an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the text.
Everyone will participate in a group dance audition. One group dance break will take place in the middle of each audition session. If your audition time is in the first half, you will be asked to wait in the lobby after your audition for the dance portion to begin. If your audition time is in the second half, you will be asked to arrive earlier – in time for the beginning of the dance audition.
Please wear comfortable (stretchy) clothing and indoor shoes (no bare or sock feet) for the dance audition. Bring tap shoes if you have them.
Please bring a theatre resume and recent headshot if available.

The comedian. The one who can do a hundred voices and imitations. Sings "Light of the World."

THE CLASS CLOWN

A bit of a tomboy, but basically open and sweet. Perhaps the youngest of the group. They are the first of the group to commit to following Jesus in the song "Day By Day."

THE EARTH CHILD

The confident one; a show-off. The first one to volunteer, sometimes they jump in before they really understand what's going on. Sings "Bless the Lord."

THE CHEERLEADER

The shy one. Sometimes a little slow to get things, but when they do, they commit all the way. Has a kind of warmth. Sings "By My Side."

THE WALLFLOWER

Sassy and slightly cynical, the most urban of the group. Sings "Turn Back O Man."

THE REBEL

Goofy and a cut-up. Sings "Learn Your Lessons Well."

It's 1947- two years since the war that shook Europe to its core and changed the very course of history. In a sleepy Polish village, several stories become intertwined as the residents of Mael Niebo- an apartment complex for the impoverished and displaced- grapple with the horrors of the past and look towards the hope of the future. 
Junior Meier is a newspaper editor from Berlin whose overriding guilt for the small part he played in perpetuating the Reich's hateful message has hindered his relationship with his young and impressionable daughter. Maestro Covali- a Romani violin virtuoso- seeks to start his life anew after the devastating deaths of his young children. Catholic siblings Katherine and Joseph Worcheka discover what it means to be forgiving while embracing a new life free from the bonds of tradition. Willie Jenkins valiantly fights to change society's opinion of the downtrodden. 
Told from the perspective of The Peddler- a charismatic storyteller who knows everything about everybody- LITTLE HEAVEN is a story of hope, survival and the power of community.

Tenor Belt.
A half-Romani violin virtuoso who was incarcerated due to his family lineage. Originally from Hungary, Covali was an up-and-coming classical sensation when he and his young daughters were arrested. 
The only survivor, Covali turns to music tutoring to make ends meet. 
He is sensible, kind-hearted. A man of few words.

MAESTRO COVALI

Baritone. A newspaper editor from a prestigious German family. Junior and his family are forced to flee to Poland due to father, Senior's, harmful involvement in the war. Although not directly affiliated with The Reich, Junior's guilt about publishing fascist propaganda in his newspaper has inhibited his relationship with his young daughters as well as his patriotic father and brother-in-law. Junior is a lost soul: absent, cynical.

JUNIOR MEIER

Mezzo-Soprano.
The only surviving child of Solomon and Tovah Hoffson, Rachel is an intelligent and astute young woman looking to start her life anew. 
Her longtime romantic inclinations toward neighbour Joseph Worcheka fuel her optimism and vigor.

RACHEL HOFFSON

Baritone.
The patriarch of the Hoffson family. A traditionalist who is mourning the loss of both his son and his old life. Solomon harbours a secret that threatens to tear his family apart. Hardened and embittered.

SOLOMON HOFFSON

Alto. The matriarch of the Hoffson family. A strong-willed woman who has a chip on her shoulder. Faithful and materal, Tovah is the glue that holds her family together. She acts as a peacekeeper between Solomon and Rachel.

Tenor. A fiery, rebellious Polish Catholic. Joseph is good-humoured and often takes the hardships of life at face-value. His hate of injustice and admiration towards childhood sweetheart, Rachel Hoffson, fuel his story.

Alto Belt.
A college student hailing from Chicago who has traveled to Poland in order to spread her message of peace through rallies and public displays. Willie is bright and confident; although she has the best intentions of all at heart, she does not truly understand the hardships which the people of Mael Niebo have faced.

Soprano. The wife of a German military man who has been sheltered from the hardships beyond her upper-crust Berlin life. Rosa is a peacekeeper, but her friendship with Maestro Covali opens her eyes and leads her to overcome generational bias. Intelligent and well-bred. Motherly.

ROSA MEIER

Non-Singing. A wealthy German militant who has fled to Poland along with his family in order to escape persecution due to his war crimes. Senior is stern; a man who will not waver on his problematic beliefs.

Baritone. The new husband of Junior's sister. An outspoken, crass student who blindly follows the Reich's beliefs. A fascist. Overall horrible person.

About the project:
Somewhere in the midwest in the 1950s, Chad, a hip-swiveling, guitar-playing roustabout, is being released from prison ("Jailhouse Rock").
In a nearby dreary little town, Natalie, a young mechanic, is dreaming of love and adventure while she yearns for one true love to take her away, but she doesn't realize that her best friend Dennis has a secret crush on her ("Love Me Tender"). Sitting in Sylvia's, the local honky tonk, the whole town sings the blues ("Heartbreak Hotel"). Natalie's widowed father Jim enters and joins in, until they're interrupted by the roar of a motorcycle: it is Chad ("Roustabout"). Chad is in need of a mechanic and he's introduced to Natalie, who is instantly smitten ("One Night With You") and promises to fix his broken down bike.

Please come prepared to sing and dance. 
For the singing, prepare approximately 1 minute of a musical theatre song or any song from the 50s that showcases your voice. You can use a backing track, or you can accompany yourself, or you can sing a cappella – directors just want to hear your voice and see you expressing the song that you choose. You DO NOT NEED a headshot – the video will do! You DO NOT NEED a resume. This is a fun show, and directors want the whole experience to be light and celebratory.

This person is the Porter aboard the Disoriented Express. The character could be diverse adult ages, and requires a welcoming but correct manner, slightly formal.

Miss Jones is a starlet (aging or otherwise) whose vanity gets the best of her. This actor needs to be able to play dumb, in a serious way.

SHEILA JONES

Julie is an expert diamond cutter – smart, precise, can be any or non-gender.

JULIE STONES

Bones is muscle for Julie Stones – a bodyguard type, not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Any or non-gender. Imposing physicality would be ideal for this role.

Slycroft is a martial arts and military fanatic. Simple-minded, easily offended.

SLYCROFT GNOMES

Enola is the head of a mob cartel. Smart, sharp, alert.

Sam is the fictional detective, with the expected dialogue style. Can be played any or non-gender.

Hercule is the fictional detective, and plays opposite Miss Marple. Looking to keep this character as male, and willing to cross-dress anyone who suits the character to play this as male.

About the project:
"I Never Saw Another Butterfly" is a stirring musical about an inspirational teacher and the children of Terezin, a ghetto under Nazi rule during World War II.  

Additional information:
Auditions will be held in 8 minute time slots. Auditions will include reading a short monologue which directors provide, singing a short song of your choice which illustrates your vocal range (eg. O Canada), and some vocal range testing.  
Rehearsals will be held on Wednesday evenings and either Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons depending on the availability of those who are cast. 
The show’s six performances will include two student matinees on November 9 and 10, evening performances on November 9, 10, 11 and an afternoon matinee on November 11.
