About the play: Bilbo Baggins is a very settled hobbit who has no use for adventures - “nasty, disturbing, uncomfortable things!” But when Gandalf the Wizard and a group of Dwarves come knocking with an opportunity to join a quest for stolen gold, he is swept into an extraordinary journey far beyond the comforts of home. Will trolls, giant spiders, and the terrifying dragon, Smaug, be too much for Bilbo and his friends? Or is the threat within themselves greater than any creature they face? Tolkien’s timeless tale springs to life in this highly theatrical celebration of courage and friendship. Join us on an epic journey through Middle Earth! This take on The Hobbit will be highly theatrical, with most actors playing multiple characters. Rate: Non union. $300. Additional information: Callbacks: Sunday, October 25, 2026 afternoon/evening. Audition Location Maple Ridge, BC. Shoot/Performance Date(s) Feb 4-7, 11-14, 18-21, 25-28. Shoot/Performance Location(s) Langley, BC. Submission Deadline October 24, 2026. Audition Requirements: Actors will be asked to read sides for a couple of different characters. Sides will be sent after signing up for an audition slot. Memorization is not required, but familiarity with all sides is encouraged. Come prepared to play! Song: Please prepare to sing about 30 seconds - one minute of an acapella song of your choice. Ability to sing is an asset but not necessarily a requirement. Looking for actors who can keep a tune; directors don’t require people who are highly trained. There will be stage combat sequences. More information on these requirements will be released upon application to audition or upon request. Rehearsals: starting Nov 7, 2026 Mon, Wed 6:00 - 9:30pm and Sat 12:00 - 5:30pm.
