About the project: In this quirky comedy, Thomas, a detail obsessed aspiring police officer, arrives for what he believes could be the most important interview of his life. But when his attention becomes fixated on a seemingly insignificant stack of napkins, his need for order slowly overtakes his ability to focus. As his casual and messy interviewer, Harvey, unknowingly creates more chaos, Thomas becomes increasingly consumed by the fact Harvey destroying the things Thomas holds most dear, one final spill from Harveys burger sends Thomas over the edge. Thomas is a aspiring police officer who is highly observant, precise and methodical. He should be played completely seriously, with subtle facial expressions, eye movements, pauses, and physical reactions. The comedy comes from the contrast between how important napkins are to Thomas and how insignificant they appear to everyone else. As his fixation with napkins grows, he gradually shifts from calm and controlled to increasingly overwhelmed.
Harvey is a police academy interviewer who is confident, casual, and comfortable in his own way. He is messy and disorganized but completely unaware of how much his habits bother Thomas. He should be played naturally and casually, with the humor coming from how normal everything feels to him while Thomas becomes increasingly overwhelmed with how Harvey is using His napkins while eating.
A restaurant waitress who is casual and efficient, going about her job while Thomas becomes increasingly distracted by the napkins and napkin holder. She should feel completely natural and aware of Thomas’s fixation but not bothered by it. Actress should play it Natural, understated, and grounded. The humor comes from treating Thomas’s unusual requests as completely normal.
