Acting Audition for "Ablaze" Film
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking cast for "Ablaze" film. See the details below. About the project: Film students Noa and Jun meet at their school to prepare for their upcoming short film. Noa pushes Jun to rewrite his screenplay, arguing that its characters are flat and their motivations weak. Jun refuses to compromise, defending the story exactly as he wrote it. Their argument takes an impossible turn when Nigel and Clair, two characters from Jun's screenplay, suddenly appear through the school's washroom. After proving who they are, they confront Jun with the same criticism Noa has been making: they have no memories, dreams or lives beyond what he has written for them. They want more. Nigel diplomatically persuades Jun to rewrite their futures, but Clair has other plans. She murders Nigel, takes control of the script and forces Jun to write her new life filled with power, wealth and freedom. Once satisfied, she turns on the students. Noa and Jun fight back, using the strange connection between the screenplay and its characters against her. As Noa struggles with Clair, Jun burns the script, causing Clair, and everything belonging to her fictional world, to disappear. Having spent the day fighting over who should control their film, Noa and Jun leave th school, having finally created an ending together. Rate: Non union. None for auditioning. Yes, for shooting. Jun is a thoughtful but defensive young writer who believes deeply in the story he created. Criticism of his screenplay quickly becomes criticism of himself. When his characters confront him directly, he must decide whether being their creator means controlling them — or letting them go.
Noa is outgoing, confident and incapable of keeping a creative opinion to himself. He pushes Jun to give his characters greater depth, only to discover that when those characters become real, his own instinct is to turn them into material for another film.
Elegant, diplomatic and philosophical, Nigel believes their creator can give them something their fictional world cannot: purpose beyond the page. Beneath his warmth, however, he may understand far more about their situation than he initially reveals.
Clair is the femme fatale Jun wrote her to be — charming, dangerous and accustomed to manipulation. But once she realizes someone else has determined her choice in her life, her desire for meaning becomes a desire for complete control.
