Seeking Cast for Play "Amadeus"
Casting both AEA and non-union talent for production of "Amadeus". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. The details are outlined below for your reference. Rate: LORT D Contract Weekly rate: $950.00 minimum for principals and understudies/swings. Additional info: Both local and non-local talent are encouraged to apply an audition. Please prepare one monologue or two contrasting monologues not to exceed 3 minutes total. In person callbacks: Monday October 5th; will add Tuesday October 6th if needed. Male-presenting. Court Composer to the Emperor. Brilliant, ambitious, and deeply conflicted, he serves as narrator while recounting his lifelong rivalry with Mozart. Exceptional command of language and emotional range required.
Male-presenting. A musical genius with boundless wit, irreverence, and youthful energy. Mercurial, funny, and deeply vulnerable beneath his exuberance.
Female-presenting. Mozart’s devoted wife. Intelligent, resilient, and fiercely practical as she struggles to support her husband and family. Role will also include Ensemble work.
Emperor of Austria. Affable, curious, and genuinely devoted to music, though often unaware of his own limitations. Strong comic instincts. Role will also include Ensemble work.
Influential patron of the arts. Intellectual, dignified, and quietly authoritative. Role will also include Ensemble work.
Court official. Polished, ambitious, and committed to preserving decorum and tradition. Role will also include Ensemble work.
Imperial Director of Opera. Conservative, politically savvy, and skeptical of artistic risk. Role will also include Ensemble work.
Wealthy aristocrat with a mysterious presence. Reserved and imposing. Role will also include Ensemble work.
The “Little Winds.” Nimble storytellers who provide gossip, exposition, and comic energy. Excellent timing and verbal dexterity required.
Celebrated soprano and former student of Salieri. Confident, poised, and accustomed to admiration. Classical singing ability welcome but not required. (No dialogue). Role will also include Ensemble work.
Salieri’s wife. Quiet, observant presence. (No dialogue). Role will also include Ensemble work.
To portray courtiers, servants, musicians, clergy, and opera performers. Strong ensemble skills and comfort with multiple roles. Singing and movement abilities a plus.
