About the project: Logline: While helping pack away her grandmother's belongings, a young girl discovers that her grandmother has "turned into a chair". Upon realising she is the only one who sees that her grandmother lives in this chair, she has to convince her mother to bring the chair with them as they pack to move abroad indefinitely. Rate: Non union. Volunteer. Additional information: Location: Toronto/GTA. Tentative shooting dates: Sept 26-27, 2026. All characters are Shanghainese or Mandarin speaking. LEAD. Independent, optimistic, and open-minded, but part of an older generation of Chinese immigrants who are not expressive with their feelings. Brought up with a less privileged background; hence, have been taught not to be attached to items, especially if they are worn out. Someone who is quick-tempered but does not hold grudges and, at heart, a softie. All characters are Shanghainese or Mandarin speaking.
SUPPORTING. Optimistic, emotionally removed, but projects her feelings through anxiety of not seeing her daughter and granddaughter as much as she would like to. Was avoidant as a mother; there is unresolved conflict between grandmother and mum.
