About the musical: In the Ziegfeld Follies, in Hollywood films, and on the radio, Fanny Brice was one of the most celebrated entertainers of her time. With humor, talent and chutzpah, young Fanny, an awkward Jewish girl who "isn't pretty," defies the odds and becomes one of the greatest stars of her generation. Fanny's rise to super-stardom and her turbulent romance with gambler Nick Arnstein are explored through Bob Merrill and Jule Styne's unforgettable score, which includes "People," "Don't Rain On My Parade," "I'm the Greatest Star," "The Music That Makes Me Dance," and "You Are Woman, I Am Man". Male presenting. Good-looking but unsuccessful gambler. The love of Fanny’s life. Suave, sophisticated, and incredibly charming. Voice range: Baritone. Dance: Mover.
Male presenting. A song and dance man and Fanny’s closest friend who secretly loves her. Good comic timing, bright, energetic, sincere. Voice range: Baritone. Dance: Strong dancer, tap dance.
Female presenting. Fanny’s sharp-tongued but sympathetic mother. Tough Brooklyn/Jewish mother, dry humor. Voice range: Mezzo-Soprano. Dance: Mover.

There are several musical numbers that require strong dancers. These dancers would also sing in the ensemble and be part of the full group numbers. Voice: Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Tenor, Baritone, or Bass. Dance: very strong dancers; tap experience is a bonus.
Variety of ages and genders. Ensemble roles included both Keeney and Ziegfeld choristers, plus Henry Street people and various other smaller roles within the show.
